"Their 2016 is looking pretty hot..." -Rolling Stone (4/5 stars)
"Nimble, restless guitars propel the songs of Sunflower Bean, a Brooklyn band barely out of its teens that neatly connects 1960s psychedelia with decades of its indie-rock descendants, a family tree that holds Pink Floyd along with the Smiths, the Sundays, R.E.M. and Haim." - New York Times
"...excitement is palpable on Human Ceremony." - Pitchfork
"...Human Ceremony is one of the most fully realized, sonically eclectic debut albums (everything from psych pop to stoner metal gets touched upon) in a minute." -Billboard
"Guitar excursions, great singing and a sense of humor...[Sunflower Bean's] debut album has arrived and it delivers all of the above in eleven splendid bursts of pop guitar-driven songs." - NPR Music
"[Sunflower Bean] make classic-sounding songs about the weight of contemporary existence." - The Fader (GEN F)
Last month Sunflower Bean celebrated the release of their brilliant debut LP Human Ceremony - a record that is already being lauded as one of the best of 2016 -and today they share the video for the album's lead single "Easier Said." On this track, Nick Kivlen's lilting, clean guitar is met with Julia Cumming's delicate, gliding vocals, which spiral off into a vibrant hum. The track is accompanied by an equally striking visual that was filmed in upstate New York - PRESS HERE to watch via i-D Magazine.
