Formed in a squat in Peckham, South London in 2011, The Fat White Family comprises of Lias Saoudi (vocals), Saul Adamczewski (guitar/vocals), Nathan Saoudi (keyboards), Adam Harmer (guitar), Jack Everett (drums), and Taishi Nagasaka (bass). The band have garnered critical and public adulation for their skuzzy mix of country, rock & roll, post-punk, and nihilistic psychedelia, recalling the likes of The Fall, The Birthday Party, Butthole Surfers and Country Teasers. Following a series of highly charged and memorable gigs, the Brixton-based band released their first single, "Cream of the Young," followed by several more singles ("Heaven on Earth," "Touch the Leather," and a split 7" with the band Taman Shud) on Trashmouth Records throughout 2013, followed by their debut album, "Champagne Holocaust", which received an American release via Fat Possum Records in August 2014.
In the past year, The Fat White Family have been critically acclaimed, both in the UK and the US. They were among the nominees for Best Live Band and Best Video (for Touch The Leather), at this year's NME Awards in London, and were part of the NME Awards Tour in February. The band recently made their network television debut on the Late Show With David Letterman, and kick off their North American tour on April 29th. A new album is in the works for later this year.
