The Late Show with David Letterman to Host The Orwells Performance Once Again June 10th
|
Chicago's five-piece rock act The Orwells new album Disgraceland is out today on Canvasback Music. The album, which can be streamed in its entirety viaRollingStone.com, features the track "North Ave." which premiered via NPR yesterday. In addition, the band will make a triumphant return to The Late Show with David Letterman on June 10th, where the band made their TV debut in a now epic performance this past January. Watch that performance here. The Orwells will tour throughout North America in support of their new release, including a stop at Brooklyn's Rough on June 9th. The Orwells also have plans for some big hometown happenings starting with a free in-store performance at Chicago's Reckless Records on June 16th, an Underground Lounge at JBTV on the 17th and a free album release party at Shuba's on the 18th. Complete list of dates below. Disgraceland follows the 2013 release of lauded Other Voices and Who Needs You EPs and 2012's full-length Remember When. The Orwells' first three releases were made with a youthful energy and unabashed love for rock & roll which set the stage for the band's new album, Disgraceland. "I'm not that old but I'm getting pretty wise" -- a sentiment within the early seconds of The Orwells' new album, Disgraceland, pretty much sums up the eleven tracks that follow it. In guitarist Matt O'Keefe's words, "We wanted to capture what the last 18-20 years of our lives were like, in this anywhere USA suburb." Recorded last fall at studios in London, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Woodstock, NY, the album was produced with the help of Chris Coady (Smith Westerns, Beach House), Dave Sitek (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Santigold, TV On the Radio) and Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys). The Orwells are cousins Mario Cuomo (vocals) and Dominic Corso (guitar), twins Grant (bass) and Henry Brinner (drums), and Matt O'Keefe (guitar) |
