ADULT.
ADULT. are set to release their fifth album, The Way Things Fall, next Tuesday, May 14th, with the exclusive stream of the full record up now on FADER.
FADER write, "what's surprising about the wonky synth lines and smiting, deadpan vocals on their excellent return to the studio, The Way Things Fall, is very fresh and how of-the-moment they sound, like something you might hear at a fog-machine-filled cold wave party today, only with an emphasis on clarity of form, instead of hazy subterfuge." Continuing with the song "Tonight, We Fall," FADER call it an "infectious, deftly textural track," one that capitalizes on Nicola Kuperus' gothy, compelling vocals.
The duo have also shared somewhat of an urgent Public Service Announcement, one that addresses the dire need to properly spell their name correctly, inflecting a doubly serious and humorous take on the matter.
BULLETT called first single "Idle (Second Thoughts)" an epitome of the intersection between "electronic elements with a sharper punk edge...it’s a living, breathing concoction of analog instrumentation and electronic aesthetic, with a minimal diffidence that pushes and pulls." Electronic Musician write of the record, "stripped of ratty bass panic attacks and atonal splatter, consonant arrangements and blanched analogue melodies manifest in wraithlike contortions."
ADULT. are playing select cities this summer, including a hometown set at Movement Electronic Music Festival in Detroit, as well as shows on the West and East coast, with all dates below.

Press Quotes /
"Grim, stripped-bare techno, razor-sharp synth-pop, and snarling electro-punk...It's terrifically conceived and even more terrifically crafted, the sort of record so perfect in its own aims that parsing out influences or agendas seems a fool's game. These tracks, this duo, this entity that is Adult.: they're a great and interesting thing, this nation's best inducers of head-banging, high-speed driving, amazed chuckles, and giddy bedroom shout." Pitchfork
"Stripped of ratty bass panic attacks and atonal splatter, consonant arrangements and blanched analogue melodies manifest in wraithlike contortions." Electronic Musician
"Itchy gothic synthcore...Detroit's eeriest, scariest, plain witchiest couple...Compressing the sound of gothic cathedral symphonics into the frame of a stuttering, cobwebbed Casio, Millar ratchets up the disco glitch into a ferociously minimal, hyper-tense techno rush." NME
"Sterile, synth-soaked productions." XLR8R
"Like snorting Paxil-laced Adderall off a Fad Gadget lithograph, Adult. is cathartic cabaret for the sketched out...The gnarled vignettes aim to alienate, which only further endears core fans, whether electro heads, electroclash survivors or no-wave fetishists." URB
