For this video, RACES teamed up with director Edward Chase Masterson, who directed their previous music video for Big Broom. The band is excited to premiere the video for Lies on Noisey / Vice.
Wade Ryff of RACES says, "It was sort of surreal shooting this video
for a number of reasons. For one, it was shot in the suburbs most of us
grew up in, not even a mile from the the Sears dressing room in which I
graduated from a teenager to a man, or so i thought. But also because
there became this sense that we had entered the belly of the beast that
feeds on the paranoia of those living in a lie. The irony of such an
idealistic and peaceful neighborhood being inhabited by residents who
seemed so scared to live there was something that really spoke to some
of the most recent social issues that abstractly inspired this video."

Under The Radar
: "Splits the difference between 1990s posturing and a romantic streak
as long as Sunset Blvd - Creating a space where the male/female
harmonies are big and the baselines are even bigger"
Magnet Magazine
: "RACES (formally known as Black Jesus) aren't just fundamental indie
rock. The band has put style into the classic genre, mixing catchy
chords with other subtle nuances that captivates your ears’ attention."
No Fear In Pop
: "Good old indie rock usually isn’t exactly our cup of tea (anymore,
admittedly), but we can’t help but face the simple fact that there
still is a good amount of finest, straightforwardly guitar-based music
out there that does indeed evoke those same old feelings. Take as an
example Los Angeles outfit RACES"
Buzzbands LA : "the
sextet “melds charismatic indie-pop highlighted by the boy/girl vocals
of Wade Ryff and Devon Lee, jammier psych-rock built around by
guitarist’s Garth Herberg’s textures and the revivalesque energy meted
out by bands such as Arcade Fire.” That’s a mouthful, but its right on.
KCRW
: "Lead vocalist, Wade Ryff, who is trained in theory and also
arrangement via piano, is taking the microphone for the first time and
really catching the ears of many"
