THE LEGENDARY TANGERINE DREAM PLAY SELECT US/CANADIAN DATES ON
THE ELECTRIC MANDARINE TOUR BEGINNING JUNE 30TH
NEW YORK, NY
– With a career spanning over 40 years, seven Grammy nominations and an
overwhelming discography and filmography of top albums and acclaimed
Hollywood scores, “The Pioneers of Modern Sound,” have been preparing
to pack their bags and rock the world with their new Electric Mandarine Summer 2012 tour.
Tangerine
Dream began as a surreal rock band that has released over one hundred
albums over the years. At a time when electronic instruments were
widely misjudged and virtually non-existent, Tangerine Dream were one
of the forerunners of a range of new sounds, effects, and production
techniques. From Edgar Froese's inimitable guitar style and
sample-based sound collages, Linda Spa’s melodic wind instruments and
Bernhard Beibl’s amazing guitar work, the whole band has an
incomparable sound, each of the member of the group has contributed to
a unique technique that has pushed the boundaries of music. Edgar
Froese, the founder of TD and only remaining constant, has been
responsible for some of the most important and innovative records and
concepts of the last century.
Tangerine
Dreams' reputation, experience and creativity, together with their
enormous amount of record sales and Hollywood film scores (Risky Business, Legend, Firestarter, Near Dark etc.),
have gained them the openness to continue stimulating traditional
platforms. Their shows have a cinematic feel that is characterized by
the use of high-end technology, combined with rock and roll that is
definitely not to be missed. These are the only US/Canadian dates they
will be performing this year.

"The Berlin group paved the way for
hot ambient/house acts like the Orb and Aphex Twins and influenced
everything from the cadence of disco to the ‘sonic beatfeasts of rap’. " USA Today
"As beautiful as Bach." LA Times
"T.Dream or not T.Dream ? - They
have made the music the star of the show, not the musicians and not the
means of making the music. A new creative energy." John Peel
