Sometimes a Great Notion MUSIC AND ARTS Festival

Portland, OR July 27th - 29th @ DISJECTA

Hong Kong-based label Metal Postcard Records will be hosting and curating the label's first U.S. independent music and arts festival, Sometimes A Great Notion. The festival will take place over three days, July 27-29th, at Portland Arts Centre Disjecta.
 
The event will combine music and arts across a range of genres from around the world, including acts from Metal Postcard Records. The festival will be headlined by The Felice Brothers, funk rock guitar legend Dennis Coffey, Australian punk rock great Ed Kuepper, and Los Angeles electronic dub trailblazers Peaking Lights
 
The lineup also includes local Portland acts Pulse EmitterZac PenningtonWhite FangHolcombe Waller, Grapefruit , Strangled Darlings, 20 XX and Natasha Kmeto as well a selection of local dj's  and more to come.
 
International acts include Ollo (Sydney) ?ReDo From Start (Tokyo)  The Emergency (Melbourne)  Chris T-T (Brighton UK) and Perth based singer songwriters Swoop Swoop & Louis Inglis
 
Artworks and installations at the SAGN festival will include: Projections, light performances and installations by Matt Page of Portland based Mapache FilmsAlexander Dluzak's Burmese punk photos, works by Francesca Berrini (a fashion show), and tintype photos by Meghann Gilligan and prints by The Cambodian Space Project's Phnom Penh based screen print studio. 
 
There will also be an accompanying record fair, mini music cinema featuring amongst other things the films and videos of Asia's new underground music scenes, DJs and other surprises. Last but not least we've got Melting Man, a tongue in cheek take on Burning Man. This oversized ice sculpture of the human form  will slowly melt until the last day of the festival. Metal Postcard Records is very proud to be working with Portland's premier alternative arts centre, Disjecta, to present not only a range of national and international acts, but also the city’s newest and most exciting underground music acts, designers, artists and more.
