A Place To Bury Strangers Premiere New Track "And I'm Up"
Announce Tour Dates and Record Release Show in July |
|
A Place To Bury Strangers have premiered the second single off their new album, Worship. The song is "And I'm Up" and is available at Consequence of Sound
today. On "And I'm Up," Strangers apply their fuzzy filter to a song
the grows out of a more straightforward pop sensibility. It's something
singer Oliver Ackermann calls "that classic 50's vibe our parents grew
up loving oh so much and then cramming down our throats through
subliminal early life listening."
The
track starts off with a heavy back beat courtesy of longtime friend
Cyrus Lubin, drummer for The Immaculates and head of Famous Class
Records. Ackermann's melancholy vocals counter the walking bass
line and chaotic guitar sounds, darkly proclaiming, "Either way I
choose the choice is wrong / so I'll choose wrong / always choose
wrong." The track's upbeat sounds and moody lyrics combine to create
what might be APTBS's most approachable song of the bunch on their
forthcoming album Worship.
A
Place To Bury Strangers is touring throughout June with This Will
Destroy You and has just announced new show dates for July. These new
dates include a headlining record release show at Music Hall of
Williamsburg (the band's home turf) on Friday, July 27. The band will
also appear at the Metallica-curated Orion Music & More festival on
June 24 in Atlantic City, NJ.
Worship, A Place To Bury Stranger's third album, will be released June 26 (June 11 UK) on Dead Oceans and is currently available for pre-order through SC Distribution. All pre-orders come with an early download on June 11. Along with the CD and LP (on "Blue Death" colored vinyl) versions of Worship, there is also deluxe bundle offer that includes entry to win a Death By Audio 'Fuzz War' effects pedal handmade by Ackermann.

EARLY PRAISE FOR WORSHIP
"'You Are the One'...puts an unremitting krautrock
pulse beneath frontman Oliver Ackermann's affectless vocals and myriad
dive-bombing sonic effects." -SPIN
"On single 'You Are The One,' listeners can hear the sonic havoc wreaked by Oliver Ackerman’s Death by Audio FX pedals, some of which approaches the creepy, atonal heights of David Lynch’s films (think Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me)."
-DEATH & TAXES
"Come for the psychedelic washes of guitar and brittle
Joy Division-esque drumming, but stay for the awesome spindly guitar
pickin.'" -FUSE
