They will be responsible for all sound design at these locations, including building custom playlists and curating live music experiences, as well as at future SH&D projects. The two musicians have created sampler playlists, which premiered today on Spotify, to highlight some of their first musical selections for SH&D's locations. "When we started, Chris and I personally handpicked the music for all of the restaurants because we wanted it to be a core part of the experience. Going separate ways after high school, the two crossed paths again and joined forces to open successful New York restaurant, Hudson Clearwater with two other partners. Soon after, the duo brought on Marcus Childress and formed Select Hospitality and Design, to continue pursuing new hospitality projects. With extensive design and restaurant experience, Hechter and Brandon serve as managing partners, while Childress utilizes his experience in financial management in his role as CFO.  Together, the team opened The Heyward at a Brooklyn site that was formerly home to the iconic music venue Zebulon. In 2015, they opened the popular coastal New American restaurant, Hinterland, located on Main Street in Santa Monica. With several new ventures in the pipeline, Select Hospitality is making a name for itself across the nation.

Isn’t it so often the case that the most innovative works of art – the ones that break the ground where others follow – are the ones that seem to reach only the ears of those who take those ideas and run with them? So it is with This Heat, who from the forefront of experimental music, sowed the seeds of post-punk, avant rock, noise rock and post-rock. We are very proud to announce that our latest archival series is of this experimental, Brixton trio's 1979-1981 discography. In honor of their 40th anniversary we're reissuing their self-titled debut album, their EP Health & Efficiency, and their masterpiece Deceit. In these albums, This Heat concocted some of the most experimental ideas ever committed to tape, taking influence from musique concrète, krautrock, the burgeoning industrial scene and even the dub reggae blasting out in their home borough. Given the difficult, abrasive, and involved nature of their sound, This Heat never found anything approaching mainstream success, but their influence is immeasurable and those who love them love them fiercely. This first ever official vinyl reissue was produced with the full co-operation of band members Charles Bullen and Charles Hayward. Four decades on, This Heat is still a revelation.

  The band are currently on tour in Europe, returning to the UK in December for select shows, including a just announced Christmas show at the Bussey Building in London on December 10th.

This 12 CD deluxe box set, limited to 1000 copies worldwide, each signed by Schmidt, takes you on a journey through his entire solo work from 1981 to the present day and is out on Mute / Spoon Records on January 8, 2016, with the digital version out December 4, 2015. Irmin Schmidt is a founding member of Can, the German band whose unparalleled genius remains unquestioned, timeless and immeasurably influential. This will be the Deluxe 20th Anniversary Box Set edition of THE LIPS globally influential and essential edition of THE 1995 classic album CLOUDS TASTE METALLIC. The album is available for pre-order now via THE LIPS Official Store. All pre-orders will receive a series of instant downloadable tracks at various dates leading up to the release, each a previously unreleased rarity from this collection. The first instant track available now is a live version of "Psychiatric Explorations of the Fetus with Needles".

 

Clouds Taste Metallic, the band's seventh album, is considered one of The Lips' best and earned them much critical fanfare. All-Music called it "a masterful collection that completes the Flaming Lips' odyssey into the pop stratosphere" and compared it to the Beach Boys' definitive album Pet Sounds. Released on September 19th, 1995, Clouds Taste Metallic is also the last Lips album to feature guitarist Ronald Jones.

 

Heady Nuggs 20 Years After Clouds Taste Metallic 1994-1997, will be released in several configurations, including a three-CD set (plus digital equivalents) anda numbered, limited edition five-LP box set. (Individual vinyl LPs will be released at a later date.)   The Official Flaming Lips Storewill carry an exclusive numbered and colored vinyl version of the five-LP box set autographed by Wayne Coyne along with three exclusive out-of-print t-shirts and three out-of-print posters, designed by Wayne that were originally sold during the Clouds-era, and will be limited to a one time ONLY run. 

 

The CD set will include three discs. The first features the entirety of Clouds Taste Metallic plus the rarities The King Bug Laughs (Oddities and Rarities) (a collection of previously unreleased, promo-only, and compilation-only tracks gathered together and available for the first time ever in one place). School of Seven Bell's SVIIB Available for Preorder, New Song 'Open Your Eyes' Premieres on Vice

(November 13, 2015)-Today, School Of Seven Bells are pleased to share a new track off their upcoming and final record, SVIIB. Entitled “Open Your Eyes,” the premiere serves as a precursor to the album’s release on February 12, 2016. Check it out today exclusively on Vice. 

It was in the summer of 2012 that SVIIB was written, “I can easily say that it was one of the most creative and inspired summers of our lives,” Alejandra Deheza recounts. “What followed was the most tragic, soul shaking tidal wave that life could ever deliver, but even that wouldn’t stop the vision for this record being realized”.

It was in early 2013 that Benjamin Curtis was diagnosed with a rare form of T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, less than a year later Deheza would be the sole member of the group. Benjamin Curtis passed away on December 29, 2013.

In 2014 Deheza moved to Los Angeles to finish the record with Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck, Nine Inch Nails, M83), “I’m trying to feature Benjamin as much as possible”, Meldal-Johnsen says. As soon as Alley was settled in LA it took the two only a month and a half to finish the record. “ This is a love letter from start to finish. It's the story of us starting from that first day we met in 2004, and that's the story of School of Seven Bells,” Alley says, “When I see those roman numerals, I just think of an era”.

SVIIB will be released on February 12, 2016 via Vagrant Records in the US, and Full Time Hobby in Europe, but today fans can pre-order the album on iTunes and receive “Open Your Eyes” as an instant download.
