(Monday, June 3, 2024) – Pixies return with the release of their first new music for 2024 with a brand new AA-side single, “You’re So Impatient”/”Que Sera, Sera.”  Listen HERE.

The new AA-side finds Pixies creating a macabre and cinematic picture of American pop culture.  Furious punk ditty “You’re So Impatient” is an explosive two-minute, nine-second Zombie attack at the mall, before Pixies twist the classic 1950's standard “Que Sera, Sera” into a dark folk tale, told anew through the lens of a sci-fi monster epic – originally recorded as the soundtrack for the U.S. TV show “From.”  A limited edition 7-inch single including both tracks will be released on July 19.

(Artwork for Pixies’ "You're So Impatient"/"Que Sera, Sera" 7-inch single)

Speaking about “You’re So Impatient,” vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Black Francis said, “’You’re So Impatient’ is a slightly comedic suburban culture moment:  there’s this guy, there’s this gal, there’s this tug-of-love dynamic going on.  But the backdrop is the mall.  And while the mall is crass, it’s also a very zombie, rock ‘n’ roll horror movie setting.”

Twenty-twenty-four is a momentous year for Pixies.  Thirty-five years since their groundbreaking, Platinum-certified album Doolittle catapulted the band into the UK Top Ten, was heralded as one of the top albums of the 1980s, and twenty years since the band’s celebrated reformation at Coachella, Pixies are deep into their second act.  Bigger than ever, playing to fans spanning multiple generations, and in the midst of a creative purple patch, with more new music soon to be announced.

Pixies’ new AA-side single arrives amidst a packed touring schedule set to take in circa seventy live shows across the world through 2024 – with even more dates to be announced for 2025.  They have just kicked off a North American tour with Modest Mouse and Cat Power, with a return to the UK in August for a run of already sold-out headline shows, as well as appearances at major festivals.

The shows will mark Pixies’ second visit to the UK this year following a sold-out run of gigs celebrating the Bossanova and Trompe Le Monde albums, which saw Pixies welcome new bassist Emma Richardson (Band of Skulls) to the line-up, the first British band member to join the alt-rock icons.  Looking ahead, Pixies will head to New Zealand and Australia in November for stadium gigs with Pearl Jam, closing what’s set to be a monumental year for one of the world’s most influential, revered and deeply anchored bands.

WASHED OUT SHARES NEW SINGLE “RUNNING AWAY”

WASHED OUT SHARES NEW SINGLE “RUNNING AWAY”

On June 28th, Sub Pop will release Washed Out’s fifth and most audacious album, Notes From a Quiet Life. The music of Washed Out has always levitated over a timeless frontier. You can sense it in his immersive, amorphous vocals, expansive soundscapes, and wistful storytelling. Following the previously released Notes From A Quiet LifeDocumentary that was shot earlier this year and Directed by Kristian Melom (“Dear, Dreamer” and “The River”), comes the new single “Running Away.”

Washed Out’s Ernest Greene shares about the song: “Starting work on a new album often means a lot of failed experiments.  Basically, I’m just waiting around until I stumble into something new that I can build an album concept around.  For NFAQL, that song was “Running Away”.  It had all of the ingredients that ended up shaping the aesthetic for the album: a more minimal arrangement, sonic clarity, and more of an emphasis on classic songwriting technique.”

Additionally, Washed Out has announced live shows to support his forthcoming record, with festival appearances at Sundown Festival and Twilight Concert Series in June and Day In Day Out in July. North American Headline shows to follow in August. See below for a full list of shows.

M83 Shares The Soft Moon Remix Of "Oceans Niagara" || 'Fantasy Deluxe' Is Out Now On Mute

M83 FANTASY DELUXE IS OUT NOW

M83, aka Anthony Gonzalez, has released the deluxe version of his acclaimed 9th studio album Fantasy that was released last year via Mute.

The deluxe version includes a brand new remix of “Ocean’s Niagara” from Luis Vasquez AKA The Soft Moon, marking his last work before he tragically passed away last January. Vasquez’ interpretation of the Fantasy standout invokes his characteristic flourish for goth-inflected production, rollicking beats, and just a shade of nuance. His deft and singular instincts as a producer and artist breathe a buoyant life into this version.

Listen to it HERE.

Additionally, Fantasy Deluxe features further reworkings from an illustrious array of artists including Sofia Kourtesis, Rachika Nayar, Kaela, Jeremiah Chiu and more.

Fantasy Deluxe is out digitally now. Purchase or stream it HERE.

M83 also recently recorded a revered KEXP session that can be watched HERE.

This body of new remixes follows a year of extensive and wildly-praised touring across North America and Europe in celebration of Fantasy.

For Gonzalez, Fantasy's direction and aesthetic was immediately clear. "I wanted this record to be very impactful live," he says. "The idea was to come back with something closer to the energy of ‘Before The Dawn Heals Us’. The combination of guitars and synths is always in my music, but it’s maybe more present on this new record than on the previous ones."

M83 is the musical vision of French multi-instrumentalist Anthony Gonzalez. Over the span of two decades, he has firmly established himself as an artist whose work transcends mere escapism in favor of full-on worldbuilding. Whether it be via his celebrated studio albums, film soundtracks, or compositions for stage productions, Gonzalez has proven that nothing surpasses his ability to perfectly encapsulate a specific time, emotion, or sense of place.

Listen to a playlist of some of M83’s greatest musical moments to date HERE.

PRAISE FOR FANTASY:

“aerodynamic yet explosive when it needs to be; like NASA, Gonzalez never wants you to lose sight of how he brought the impossible within reach. When he belts out “beyond adventure!”—soaring with every overdubbed guitar harmony and drum fill—there’s a sincerity that cannot be manufactured." - Pitchfork

"easily Mr. Gonzalez’s strongest album since 2011, and may be the musician’s best-ever fusion of his ambient and song-focused tendencies." - Wall Street Journal

"A true return to form" - BILLBOARD

"What keeps M83 intriguing is their smart use of dynamics, a love for ambient bliss, and the overall immersive vibe that lures you in. Other bands might construct simpler soundtracks, but there’s more nuance and depth here." - AV CLUB

“music so epic that it sounds like running through clouds” - Stereogum

"Anthony Gonzalez’s ninth LP shines so bright it should come with a special pair of sunglasses." - FLOOD

“a confident and proper return” - Exclaim!

“a psychedelic journey of synths and guitars." - UPROXX
