MARINA

Today, pop innovator MARINA has released a brand new track, ‘Superstar’, the second offering from her eagerly anticipated fourth studio album ‘LOVE + FEAR’ and a song that has been surrounded by excitement since MARINA teased the title in 2018.

‘Superstar’, which effortlessly weaves flurries of pulsing beats and soft keys, finds MARINA paying tribute to a partner who embraces all of her imperfections. Written by MARINA alongside ‘Electra Heart’ collaborators Captain Cuts (Halsey, Carly Rae Jepsen, Tove Lo), ‘Superstar’ is taken from the ‘LOVE’ collection of the album set, due for release via Atlantic Records on April 26th.

MARINA returned to the spotlight last month with her first solo material in four years, the lauded single ‘Handmade Heaven’. Since release, she has announced full details of her new album ‘LOVE + FEAR’ as well as the accompanying UK and North American headline tour.

The ‘LOVE + FEAR’ Tour starts in the UK in May and includes a now sold-out performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall. MARINA then takes the tour to North America, covering dates throughout September and early October across the US and Canada. "Lauren Ruth Ward is what happens when you mix Florence Welch and Janis Joplin... Ward’s debut album, Well, Hell [is] a force not felt in the music scene since Lana Del Rey dropped 'Blue Jeans'."
 NYLON

"Lauren Ruth Ward attacks every show as though it might be her last […] a sandpaper voice that can swoop from a Grace Slick warble to a Janis Joplin growl."
 Noisey

“A sound that marries the swagger of ‘70s rock with the sensitivity of modern folk.”
– Consequence of Sound

Los Angeles powerhouse Lauren Ruth Ward, known for her 70s psych-blues swagger and incomparable vocal stylings, has shared a new track, “Pullstring” today. Combining soulful vocals and the melodic strum of her acoustic guitar, this track showcases her folk roots. Pullstring’s meaning : “No matter how thoughtful or good my intentions are, everyone sees they want to see. Ignoring the voices that see me in a negative light and focusing on the individuals who see me as I intend is something I reteach myself daily.”

THE FLAMING LIPS TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM KING’S MOUTH AS A RSD EXCLUSIVE

THE FLAMING LIPS TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM KING’S MOUTH AS A RECORD STORE DAY EXCLUSIVE ON APRIL 13TH

ONLY AVAILABLE ON LIMITED-EDITION VINYL
February 28, 2019 (Los Angeles, CA) – THE FLAMING LIPS will exclusively release their 15th studio album, King’s Mouth (Warner Bros. Records), as a 12-inch colored vinyl on this year’s Record Store Day—Saturday, April 13th. Limited to 4,000 copies, the special solid gold vinyl serves as the only version of the title in the marketplace until July. Get it in participating record stores across the country! This also notably marks the first new music from the band since 2017’s Oczy Mlody.

King’s Mouth sees the iconoclastic outfit once again tread uncharted territory. These twelve new originals are threaded together by cinematic narration courtesy of The Clash’s Mick Jones. Additionally, the music parallels front man Wayne Coyne’s immersive art installation of the same name.

Introduced in 2015, the installation has showcased its psychedelic visuals and soundscapes through North America in museums such as Meow Wolf in Santa Fe, NM, the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, MD, the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, OR and Wayne’s own creative space, The Womb, in Oklahoma City, OK. Click here for additional information. A true handcrafted marvel, it consists of a giant metallic head that welcomes spectators inside. Once inside of the foam month, an LED lightshow begins in tandem with music from the album. Now, the record doubles as the sonic companion to the exhibit and allows fans to experience the aural side at any time.

Further expanding this multi-faceted world and detailing a fascinating creation myth, the accompanying literary tome, King’s Mouth: Immerse Heap Trip Fantasy Experience tells the story of the King’s Mouth through words and visuals by Coyneadds yet another dimension to the project, which ranks among the band’s most ambitious thus far.

About the vision, Coyne wrote, “The King’s Mouth immersive/child-like qualities are born from the same spark and womb as The Flaming Lips live performances. The King’s Mouth adventure was made for humans of all sizes, ages, cultures, and religions.”

THE LIPS just teamed up with The Colorado Symphony Orchestra for an encore performance of their seminal and celebrated 1999 offering, THE SOFT BULLETIN, from top-to-bottom at Denver’s Boettcher Concert Hall. This follows up their original 2016 performance of THE SOFT BULLETIN together at Red Rocks Amphitheatre—noted by critics as one of the most important events ever held at Red Rocks in their 75-year history.

Additionally, the group continues its ongoing podcast THE SORCERER’S ORPHAN: A SONG BY SONG HISTORY OF THE FLAMING LIPS, with Episode 5 “She Don’t Use Jelly”—available now. Check out the latest episode HERE. Catch up on previous episodes HERE.

Following GBV's sprawling double-album Zeppelin Over China, Robert Pollard has written and recorded another full-length in record-breaking time. It’s Warp and Woof (April 26, 2019), exuberantly barreling through 24 songs in just 37 minutes with a brevity similar to mid-90s GBV albums Alien Lanes and Vampire On Titus. GBV kicked this one out in a flash, recorded in studios, club soundchecks, hotel rooms and even in the tour van.

After completing Zeppelin, Pollard felt the itch to record a few EPs. Just as GBV had done back in 1994, he would use them to channel his everflowing ideas to an outlet. But when a magical boombox writing session produced six fully formed songs in under half an hour, Pollard realized he had an album on his hands. What to do?

With a band so formidable they’ve been dubbed the Golden Age of GBV, they quickly completed much of the recording on the road. The 2018 Space Gun Tour provided impromptu recording venues.  Pollard recorded vocals in hotel rooms and small studios. Doug Gillard cut guitar tracks for “End It With Light" through his Mesa Boogie rig at soundcheck at the Ottobar in Baltimore. Bobby Bare Jr. recorded his spacey main rhythm guitars for album closer, “Time Remains in Central Position” at the same show, but in the backstage green room. Kevin March added drum tracks in a studio in his hometown Montclair, New Jersey. Gillard played guitar on “Bury the Mouse” in a van hurtling at 60-plus m.p.h., and Mark Shue laid bass on “Angelic Weirdness” as he balanced on the speeding van’s bench seat…

RITA ORA ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE “ONLY WANT YOU”(FEAT. 6LACK)

RITA ORA ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE
“ONLY WANT YOU”(FEAT. 6LACK)
Following a phenomenal 2018, Rita Ora has unveiled her latest single “Only Want You.” A new take on the track taken from her critically acclaimed album Phoenix, the single features 6LACK and is available now to stream and download.

“Only Want You” is the latest offering since Rita’s record breaking thirteenth UK Top 10 single, “Let You Love Me.” With its gentle guitar riffs fused with warm percussion leading into a catchy pop-driven chorus, it is an honest love song. Realizing she has found “the one,” Rita questions whether her past actions have hindered her chances.

Rita continues to prove she is a force to be reckoned with. After the release of her platinum-selling debut album Phoenix, she broke UK records with its lead single, “Let You Love Me” becoming her thirteenth Top 10 single, setting a new UK chart record for the most Top 10 singles by a British Female Artist. To date, she has sold an impressive seven million singles, while Phoenix has amassed over 1.7 billion Spotify streams.

Starting today, March 1st, Rita will be delighting fans across the globe as she kicks off her hotly anticipated Phoenix World Tour in Melbourne, Australia. The tour marks her first solo tour in Asia and Australia, and her first arena tour in the UK, where she will play prestigious venues including London’s The O2 and Glasgow's SSE Hydro.
