The Growlers have shared their cover of "Lonely This Christmas" which was recorded durning their 2016 three night holiday run at The Wiltern in Los Angeles.

"Lonely This Christmas" was originally written and recored by the English band Mud. It was a Christmas Number One for Mud in 1974.

Performed in the style of Elvis Presley's slower songs from his later career though, despite several incorrectly-labelled videos on YouTube, Elvis Presley never recorded the song.

"I came to find out that this song wasn't actually sung by Elvis. So I'm impersonating an impersonator. I wonder if The King would have had a laugh about that?" said singer Brooks Nielsen.

The Growlers return to The Wiltern on December 22+ 23, 2017, this time to present Snow Ball '17. Tickets are on sale now.

"Lonely This Christmas" is available today, everywhere music is sold.

It's B-side, "Feelin' Good," was also recorded live during the 2016 Wiltern holiday run.

TY SEGALL FREES UP FREEDOM'S GOBLIN! COMING JANUARY 2018 Freedom's Goblin is the new Ty Segall album: 19 tracks strong, filling four sides of vinyl nonstop, with an unrestricted sense of coming together to make an album. Out January 26th, it wants you to get your head straight - but first, the process will make your head spin! On any given side, we're tracking five or six full-blown personalities, unconcerned with convention or continuity. The songs came in the flow of the year: days of vomit and days of ecstasy and escape too, and days between. The rulebook's been tossed, but Freedom's Goblin is thick with deep songwriting resources, be it stomper, weeper, ballad, screamer, banger or funker-upper, all diverted into new Tydentities in the name of love and loathing. Whether chilling at home or on tour with the Freedom Band, tracks were cut at five studios in LA, Chicago and Memphis, engineered by Steve Albini, F. Bermudez, Lawrence "Boo" Mitchell and of course, Ty himself. The goal was getting free: embracing any approach necessary to communicate new heights and depths, seeking new places for the fuzz to land among octaving harmonies, dancefloor grooves, synths, saxes and horns, jams, post-Nicky-Hopkins r'n'b electric piano vibes, children-of-the-corn psycho-rebellions, old country waltzes and down-by-the-river shuffles. Basically, the free-est bunch of pop songs Ty's ever put on tape - free to love or to be alone; to be pretty or pretty ugly; free to turn the other cheek or to turn up the volume. And of course, free to make just about any kind of song that'll free people when they hear it - because we're ALL Goblins and we ALL want our Freedom! Today, Mt. Joy announce that their self-titled debut, 'Mt. Joy' will be out March 2nd on Dualtone, an Entertainment One company. In just over a year the LA-via-Philadelphia band has racked up over 10 million streams on Spotify, toured with The Shins, Whitney, The Head And The Heart and The Lone Bellow, and performed at Newport Folk Festival, Bonnaroo, Made In America and Lollapalooza. They are gearing up for a January tour with Neko Case (full dates below) and are already confirmed for SXSW in March.

'Mt. Joy' was produced by Jon Gilbert (The Kills) and features 13 original songs that tackle addiction, politics, and mental health. Just over one year since posting "Astrovan," Mt. Joy -- comprised of Matt Quinn (vocals / guitar), Sam Cooper (guitar), Michael Byrnes (bass), Sotiris Eliopoulous (drums), and Jackie Miclau (keys) -- has been elevated from a "why not?" musical project between reunited high school friends into a full-time entity. "The irony of 'Astrovan' was that song was really about being stuck in a life and wanting to have the opportunity to pursue a dream," says Quinn, "and in an instant it gave us that opportunity."

Steeped in folk-rock tradition and powered by the intuitive creative connection between Quinn and Cooper, the songs on 'Mt. Joy' depict Quinn wrestling with his own conscience, where the mundane and the fantastic collide as he processes tragedy, social change, and love. Opener "I'm Your Wreck" describes "monsters in (the) closet, using up the wi-fi" as it cycles from its desperate, spiraling verses to its swinging, stubbornly optimistic coda, while the loping, plaintive chords of "Younger Days" meditate on a frayed psyche and the fear of choosing the wrong path. "Sheep," with its collapsing, hoarse-voiced cry of "freedom was paid in blood," is a post-Trump salvo on the responsibilities of the fortunate to overcome political and social despondency. And on "Silver Lining," perhaps the album's most moving moment, Quinn surveys the damage of hard drugs and the vicious cycle of addiction, as the song's melancholic sentiment kicks into its fervid, defiant chorus, all shout-along vocals and trilling guitars.
