WEST COAST TOUR BEGINS TONIGHT

ADULT. (Detroit’s Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller) have released a new video for “We Are a Mirror,” featuring Nitzer Ebb’s Douglas J McCarthy. Filmed in Detroit between the hours of 6pm and 6am, the video is directed by Hazel Hill-McCarthy III – the Los Angeles-based filmmaker who’s previous work includes a documentary featuring Throbbing Gristle’s Genesis P-Orridge. Watch the video HERE. "We Are a Mirror” is taken from ADULT.’s collaborative album Detroit House Guests which was released in March by Mute.

Along with this new visual offering, ADULT. are pleased to announce a special performance at the esteemed Movement Festival in their Detroit home base on Sunday, May 28. Joining Nicola and Adam will be Shannon Funchess of Light Asylum who also featured on Detroit House Guests and can be seen in the previously released video for “We Chase the Sound.”

Recently, ADULT. traveled to Nashville where they performed in Jack White’s hallowed Blue Room at Third Man Records. The audio from this show was recorded direct to acetate and will be released later this year as part of the Live at Third Man Records series.

Detroit House Guests is a project conceived by ADULT. based on the visual artist residency model – each musician came to ADULT.’s studio for a three week period with the parameter that they all live, work and collaborate together. The result - a total anthropological sound experiment and a full length album.

The album features collaborations with a whole host of musicians and artists – Douglas J McCarthy from Nitzer Ebb, Michael Gira from Swans, Shannon Funchess from Light Asylum, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe aka Lichens, Austrian thereminist Dorit Chrysler and multidisciplinary artist Lun*na Menoh.

Kuperus and Miller also make sculpture, paintings, films, photographs, performances, videos and installations. They strive to intersect the lines between art and audio and have exhibited their work at institutions such as the Austrian Cultural Forum (NY), Mattress Factory (Pittsburgh), Detroit Institute of Arts (Detroit), MOMAS (Saitama, Japan), and Centre d'art contemporain de Meymac (FR). They have shown their film The Three Grace(s) triptych at spaces such as Anthology Film Archives (NY), Distrital Film Festival (Mexico City), and Grey Area for Art and Technology (SF).

"If you go to a lot of DIY-ish shows in NYC chances are you’ve seen Fruit & Flowers, one of the hardest working new bands of the moment, making super-catchy indie rock."
Brooklyn Vegan

"...
the perfect soundtrack for slowly slinking through NYC's July haze, while possibly spotting a UFO over the Manhattan skyline."
Bandsintown

"Brooklyn band that's been playing a gazillion shows lately (and seem to have as many scheduled), which is always a good sign."
- The Deli NYC
Brooklyn-based "surf noir" garage psych band Fruit & Flowers announce their debut EP, Drug Tax, due out June 30th via Little Dickman Records. The band debuted their first single and music video from the forthcoming release on Brooklyn Vegan. Watch "Out Of Touch" HERE, and check out the upcoming tour dates, including their EP release show on June 29th at Baby's All Right.

Fruit & Flowers are one of the most active bands in the NYC area, and have been deemed one of "NYC's Hardest Working Bands" by Oh My Rockness. The band embarks on its third tour of 2017 in July to Canada and the Midwest in support of Drug Tax. Fruit & Flowers' exuberant, electric performances draw a local following. Ana Becker's angular, expressive guitar style and Lyzi Wakefield's gritty rhythmic backbone merge a post-punk heaviness with psychedelic warmth. Committed and charismatic front woman Caroline Yoder summons a fervent energy, surrounded by distinct, warm and refreshing three part harmonies, the bedrock of Fruit and Flowers' sound.

Conceived in a Bushwick loft with broken AC during the summer of 2015 by Caroline on bass and Shaw Walters on drums, the band was soon joined by Lyzi Wakefield and Ana Becker on guitars and vocals. The band agreed to play its first show at Northside festival just weeks after formation and wrote the record in a furious fit of hot nights and inspired mornings. The band became fully realized when Shaw handed the role of drummer to Jose Berrio (drummer-cum-art director), whose inimitable style elevates the strong rhythmic character of the band.

Drug Tax was born out of necessity, capturing the grit and rush of New York City summer and the newfound chemistry between the bandmates. Weaving together the perspectives and expressions of the band's multiple songwriters, Drug Tax unfolds to present the unique and varied voice of Fruit & Flowers. Lead single "Out Of Touch" is about the ennui of a missed love opportunity, with soaring, sultry vocals, beachy surf rock riffs and fuzzy bass. Album tracks range from the sultry moody and beautiful "Dark Surf" to the post-gothic title track "Drug Tax."

Drug Tax was recorded at Thump Studios in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The EP was engineered and co-produced by John Thayer, and mixed and mastered by George Harris. Jose Berrio designed the band's logo and album art.

Japanese Breakfast shares new single "Boyish," 'Soft Sounds From Another Planet' out 7/14 on Dead Oceans

JAPANESE BREAKFAST SHARES NEW SINGLE, "BOYISH"

ON TOUR NOW

SOFT SOUNDS FROM ANOTHER PLANET
OUT 7/14 VIA DEAD OCEANS

LISTEN TO "BOYISH"

Today, Japanese Breakfast has shared "Boyish," the latest from her upcoming album, Soft Sounds From Another Planet. Of the song, Michelle Zauner says "Craig Hendrix [band member and the album's co-producer] and I wanted to produce this sort of grandiose Roy Orbison-esque ballad. We wanted the chorus to have big arrangements, lots of harmonies and synth strings, to create a really sweeping, melancholic effect that mirrored the nature of the lyrics. The song is about jealousy and sexual incompetence. It's about feeling ugly."

The follow up to Japanese Breakfast's critically acclaimed debut is a work of self-reflection that looks out at the cosmos in search of healing, finding inspiration in science fiction, outer space, and the Mars One Project. Soft Sounds From Another Planet is available for pre-order now and due out July 14th on Dead Oceans.

Japanese Breakfast has also announced a free record release show matinee at Brooklyn, NY's Union Pool on July 15th and some dates in Europe. The band is currently on tour with (Sandy) Alex G and Cende and have some upcoming US dates with Tegan and Sara. All dates below.

PRAISE FOR SOFT SOUNDS FROM ANOTHER PLANET:
"Another great Japanese Breakfast album in the style of Psychopomp would've been a gift, but this is something better. It's proof that we're only beginning to glimpse Zauner's capacity for evolution." -Pitchfork

"Mines the dark drama of Vangelis and the melancholic fall-out from Kanye West's 808s & Heartbreak." -NPR

"Critics everywhere best start making room on their Best of 2017 lists... 'Machinist' is proof that Zauner is growing and changing in an adventurous, unafraid way. Even the sky isn't the limit." -Paste Magazine

"a psych-influenced rocker that tips its hat to everything from the Crazy World of Arthur Brown and post-punk to '70s cinema in one fell swoop. It's a howler of a track that's as much fun to listen to as it is to identify the films in the accompanying video" - CLRVYNT
Dion Lunadon (of A Place To Bury Strangers / The D4) is now streaming his new LP viaConsequence of Sound. The debut solo album is out this Friday, June 9th on Agitated Records, you can preorder it here.

Dion Lunadon's debut solo album was recorded over a three-month period in Brooklyn, NY. The album features Robi Gonzalez (APTBS) on drums and Blaze Bateh from Bambara on select tracks including "Fire", and also features mixing by Chris Woodhouse (Mayyors, Ty Segall, The Intelligence, Thee Oh Sees) on select tracks including "Com/Broke".   It is available for preorders now via Bandcamp.

During a short break in touring with APTBS, Lunadon had a rush of inspiration in the form of a creative spasm — a neurotic impulse to make a batch of songs and do it right then and right there.

What resulted is quite a jump away from his work in APTBS and draws more influence from bands like Toy Love and The Gun Club, as well as New Zealand unknowns such as Gestalt and Supercar.

Dion Lunadon’s debut Self-Titled album is set for release on June 9th via Agitated Records.

Alvvays Announce New Album 'Antisocialites' out 9/8, Listen to "In Undertow" Now, US Tour Dates

ALVVAYS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM  ANTISOCIALITES

OUT SEPTEMBER 8th ON POLYVINYL RECORDS

LISTEN TO "IN UNDERTOW" NOW

US TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

Alvvays is due to release its second full-length, Antisocialites, this September on Polyvinyl. The album is the much-anticipated follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut album which received accolades from Pitchfork, NPR, Rolling Stone and more. Across its 10 tracks and 33 minutes the Toronto-based group dive back into the deep-end of reckless romance and altered dates. Ice cream truck jangle collides with prismatic noise pop while Molly Rankin's wit is refracted through crystalline surf counterpoint. Through thoughtful consideration in basement and abroad, Alvvays has renewed its Scot-pop vows with a powerful new collection of manic emotional collage.

After posting a cryptic cartoon for fans last week, the group today released the excellent strum-n-thrummer "In Undertow," a breakup fantasy that is both crushing and charming for its level-headedness. "You find a wave and try to hold on for as long as you can, you made a mistake you'd like to erase and I understand," sings Rankin, her voice full longing, not for another person necessarily, but for what to do next."Meditate, play solitaire, take up self-defense," Molly continues, laundry-listing some strategies for moving on. "What's next for you and me? I'll take suggestions," she deadpans under crashing waves of Farfisa and feedback.

"This record is a fantasy breakup arc and my life nearly imitated art." - Molly Rankin.

The band will be embarking this summer on an extensive world tour. All dates can be found below.
