Lift to Experience Release New Video For "Falling From Cloud 9"

The video was filmed by Clay Grier and edited by Erica Silverman. Watch HERE. The band has also announced they will release the Falling From Cloud 9 EP on May 12, 2017. The EP will feature the original version of “Falling From Cloud 9,” an acoustic version of the track recorded at XFM in 2001, plus a very special recording from one of the band’s many John Peel sessions. Lift to Experience formed in Denton, Texas at the end of the last millennium by Josh T. Pearson, Andy Reginald Young and Josh “Bear” Browning. Their rise was fast and their reign was short. Following the release of their long-form masterpiece, the band imploded at the peak of their career due to a series of cruel tragedies. In this short time, however, Lift to Experience achieved high critical acclaim and were so beloved by John Peel that he invited them to record three Peel sessions in just five months, and the band were included in the Best 125 Peel Sessions of all time.

Why are the women always groupies, roadies, singing girl-group femmes or facilitators for the guys? Enter Venus Flytrap – a new musical comedy web-series following a band of young women intent on grabbing rock and roll by the balls in the land of Trumpistan. Together, it’s something WE can do to fight the powers that be, and laugh our asses off while we squeeze! Follow along as the punk feminist band Venus Flytrap (VFT) and their various cohorts disrupt the entertainment status quo with their own unique brand of comedy, anarchy, music and irreverence.

Venus Flytrap are inspired by the women artists of the late 1970s and 1980s – an international cadre of suffragettes that flocked to NYC and kicked up a fury of delicious noise and artistic mayhem. We’ll watch VFT resurrect the spirit of protest in music while navigating a world of dysfunctional families, sexualities, rival bands, managers and lovers who are all trying to push them into absurd concepts and styles in an attempt to snag the tarnished golden ring of rock glory. Female icons like Margaret Cho, Lydia Lunch and Asia Argento will play characters that aid and abet their crimes against sexist culture. Legendary band-breaker Nic Harcourt rounds out the cast, saying, "I seeVFT as a show that gives a voyeur's look at the biz from a female point of view. Now is clearly the moment as well, as we see women and artists under attack by the Trump administration. I've joined the resistance. Plus Gil Brundy is the ant-Nic Harcourt... I'm looking forward to taking the piss out of myself."

Created by Adele Bertei, VFT will show the world how women have always held a crucial space within rock’s freedom cry and still do today, with a ball-breaking rebel wail. These women are not new to breaking boundaries in male-dominated worlds. Writer/Director Bertei is known for writing, touring, singing and performing on hit songs with artists likeThomas Dolby, Tears for Fears, Whitney Houston, Sheena Easton, Sparks, andCulture Club, to name a few.

Plasmatics - Live! Rod Swenson's Lost Tapes 1978-81 coming to DVD and VOD on May 19th

The rare Wendy O. Williams / Plasmatics live footage in this DVD has, in the main, never been released before.  During the early years Plasmatics creator Rod Swenson, who directed and shot all the Wendy O. / Plasmatics conceptual videos (AKA known for his footage of the Ramones, Dead Boys, Blondie, and Motorhead among others) shot numerousPlasmatics shows the footage from which was never edited or released. Except for some short excerpts most of it until the discovery of this footage was thought to be lost or degraded (shot on tape which has been shown as with audio tape to degrade over time). Recently during the moving of WOW / Plasmatics archive material the footage here was found unlabeled in buried boxes. While much had degraded producer / director Randy Shooter was able to discover, relabel, and with additional editing and restoration, salvage the rare and remarkable footage in this DVD. A lot of it is raw (and much of the audio is the audio from ambient video deck mics, noise and all) but the energy and power is there straight through. The material includes two tracks from CBGBs the first of which was among the first Plasmaticsshows ever as well as other footage from benchmark shows. A bonus track (Monkey Suit) features footage shot by Swenson when he was shooting the iconic album cover for "New Hope for the Wretched," but never released.
