Honeyblood Announce New Album 'Babes Never Die' out 10/28 on FatCat Records, Release New Track
HONEYBLOOD ANNOUNCE BABES NEVER DIE
OUT ON FATCAT RECORDS OCTOBER 28TH, 2016
PREMIERE NEW SINGLE + VIDEO FOR "READY FOR THE MAGIC"
Honeyblood are back in formidable form. Today the Glasgow two-piece - frontwoman Stina Tweeddale and drummer Cat Myers- premiered incendiary new single and video "Ready For Magic", as well as announcing their second album, the emphatically titled Babes Never Die which is out on Fat Cat Records October 28th.
The follow-up to their eponymous debut, Honeyblood arrived in 2014 as a surprise splash, with stellar from New York Times to Pitchfork.'Ready for The Magic' is a remarkable introduction to Honeyblood 2.0. Both one of their most intense and most intensely catchy tracks to date. Its detuned doom riffage and disco-punk rhythms make space for a tornado of a chorus ode to "the explosive nature of infatuation". The video, a collaboration between the band and director Thomas James, is set in post-apocalyptic Scottish countryside, and follows a tribe of young feral girls who've been abandoned and left to fend for themselves in a dystopian world. We won't completely spoil its ending, but safe to say that Stina and Cat meet a grizzly fate.
The leader of the video's feral girl tribe finds herself pride of place as the cover star of the 'Babes Never Die' album, in beautiful photographic artwork shot by German photographer Amira Fritz. "I loved the idea of this feral tribe of young badass girls causing chaos," explains frontwoman Stina Tweeddale. "It's an image that chimes with what the album is all about." Of the album's title she explains: "I guess you could call it a war cry; to have the faith to never let yourself be defeated." Babes Never Die is certainly not a shy motto, and one that's triumphant sentiment rings throughout Honeyblood's exceptional sophomore record. Recorded winter 2016 with acclaimed producer James Dring (Jamie T, Gorillaz) during candle-burning sessions at London's Fish Factory studios, it will be released November 2nd and is available to pre-order now along with the new single. "The title is my own mantra," Stina says. "I think it's something I tell myself every day. Indifference is a plague. Giving up and turning a blind eye will be the end of us. Never before has that been more true."
Babes Never Die is out October 28th on Fat Cat Records.

REVEAL “YA” VIDEO VIA PITCHFORK

25 25 Out 8/19 via DFA

“Lean, icy techno”
- The Verge
“‘A pulsing, entrancing 7 minutes... it’d be just as good for a meditative, productive night in as it would be on the fun night out on the dance floor”
- Stereogum
“Factory Floor know how to get crowds dancing… “Ya” is no exception”
- Nerdist
“Propulsive and potent...Hypnotic”
- Consequence of Sound
To celebrate the forthcoming release of 25 25, their sophomore LP out August 19th on DFA Records, FACTORY FLOOR release a captivating new video for their latest single“Ya” via Pitchfork and announce and ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts) London Show Thursday August 25th.
Directed by Factory Floor and featuring sculptures by the duo’s Nik Void, the vibrant, hypnotic video for “Ya” reflects the group’s penchant for experimental modernism and dynamic minimalism:
“I was looking at the German New York artist Isa Genzken,” explains Void, “and thought I need to make a plaster synth! I like the idea of someone playing it under my instruction off camera then the synth take on a life of its own - like the true nature of modular synthesis”
In 2012 FACTORY FLOOR commenced a year-long residency as ICA Associates which manifested as a series of live collaborations that featured New York composer Peter Gordon, visual artist Hannah Sawtell and British soundtrack producer Simon Fisher Turner. The events sought to challenge the boundaries between collaboration and live improvisation.
Now the duo of Nik Void and Gabriel Gurnsey return to London’s ICA Theater Thursday August 25th to premiere material from their latest hi-energy minimalist dance exploration live. The event will also include special live performances from British visual artist Haroon Mirza, who is internationally acclaimed for his installations that examine the interplay between light and sound. He will be followed by Swedish artist Klara Lewis, who is recognized for her disorientating arrangements of field recordings combined with textured rhythms.

25 25 is the follow up to Factory Floor’s critically acclaimed 2013 self-titled debut. Stripped to a mesmerizing dance of percussion, fragmented voice, and melody, the album captures the next stage of evolution for one of the UK’s most restless and exploratory groups. “Ya” is the latest single to be taken from Factory Floor’s second studio album, 25 25, out August 19th via DFA Records. A mischief-inducing dancefloor gem, the new single comes on the heels of “Dial Me In” which the band shared last month.
25 25 is out August 19th via DFA and can be pre-ordered here.
