The Dandy Warhols Share

September and October Tour Dates Announced

Distortland Out Via Dine Alone

This Spring saw The Dandy Warhols release their newest album Distortland (Dine Alone Records) and today they are happy to share a Gerald Casale (Devo) remix of their track "Pope Reverend Jim."  It premiered via The Nerdist who said, "a decidedly Devo spin..."Pope Reverend Jim" graduates from rock club to dance hall."  Read what Casale told them about the track here.

Courtney Taylor Taylor notes "Devo is one of Thee bands of my life. Very possibly THEE band so working with Gerald on this was a life achievement/bucket lister of mine fer sher. I love it and I play it LOUD"  You should to!

Throughout their long career The Dandy Warhols have earned a reputation for bringing everything they have to their live show and that hasn't changed in 2016.   Around the release of Distortland they played to packed rooms on an East Coast run including 2 shows at NYC's Bowery Ballroom and one in Brooklyn at Rough Trade More recently they sold out multiple shows on their European and UK tour.   The band has now confirmed a Fall tour of the United States which kicks off in Minneapolis on September 23 with a show at The Varsity Theater and concludes with a 2-night stand at The Scoot Inn in Austin TX October 14 and 15.  Along the way they will stop in Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas, among many other cities.  The full tour is listed below.

"pop hooks abound on (the album)" Consequence of Sound

"Distortland (is) such a damned welcome sound for sore ears" Magnet

"it has all the understated, tuneful swagger that you would hope to hear from a new Dandy Warhols song in 2016."    Stereogum on "Catcher In The Rye"

a hypnotic strut of a song, that never quite peaks so much as lures you with singer Courtney Taylor-Taylor's vocals low and lulling in the mix. They're urging you to lean in that little bit closer."  Noisey on "STYGGO

"Everything about the new tune, from the instrumentation to the lyrics, comes off as effortless, but the simplistic hook is memorable enough that heads will surely nod." AV Club on "You Are Killing Me

"the song sports a chugging guitar riff and an earwormy hook"  Diffuser on "You Are Killing Me"

"the choral hook will surely have you turning back again and again." Austin Town Hallon "You Are Killing Me"

Formed in Portland, Oregon, The Dandy Warhols consist of members Courtney Taylor-Taylor (vocals, guitar), Zia McCabe (keyboards), Peter Holmström (guitar), and Brent DeBoer (drums).   Distortland was first recorded in Taylor's basement on an 80s cassette recorder with the band putting on the finishing touches in a studio. Jim Lowe - best known for his work with Taylor Swift and Beyonce - mixed the album.  Courtney notes that the end result is an album that is "organized like a pop record but still has the sonic garbage still in there."

Dua Lipa Announces NYC Show To Follow Her Lollapalooza Debut

DUA LIPA ANNOUNCES HEADLINING
NYC SHOW TO FOLLOW HER
LOLLAPALOOZA DEBUT

CONFIRMS TROYE SIVAN TOUR SUPPORT DATES FOR THE FALL
After playing to her biggest crowds to date at Glastonbury and Wireless Festival, Dua Lipa returns to the U.S. this summer with performances at Lollapalooza and a special headlining show in New York City.  Dua will kick off her set of Lollapalooza shows on July 29th at an Official Lollapalooza Aftershow alongside The 1975, and will go on to play the Petrillo Bandshell on the 30th and the Toyota Music Den on the 31st. Following these Chicago dates, Dua will headline New York City's Mercury Lounge on August 3rd.   Tickets for the Mercury Lounge show are on sale starting today via https://www.ticketfly.com/purchase/event/1250635?utm_medium=bks.

In November, Dua will play 11 shows as supporting act on Troye Sivan's Suburbia Tour. Dua will join the tour November 3rd through November 18th, making stops in major cities across the U.S. and Canada, including two nights at New York City's Terminal 5 (see below for full list of dates).

Dua made her live debut in the U.S. earlier this year at SXSW and went on to play headlining shows in both NYC and LA to rave reviews.  SPIN declared, "Every year in Austin, there's at least a handful of relatively as-yet unknown artists who make their mark on the crowds and go on to bigger things. This year's most likely candidate for the slot is Britain's own Dua Lipa, a 20-year-old pop star with a huge, huge voice." NYLON has predicted "There's no denying the future for Dua Lipa is bright. Prepare to be blinded by it."

Dua recently released her latest single, "Hotter Than Hell" from her highly anticipated forthcoming album.  Complex dubbed the track "a record that is perfectly positioned to heat up dance floors across the country" and Fuse raved, "From the fiery, confident themes to the intense house beats, "Hotter Than Hell" is already a top contender for song of the summer." Cosmonauts - 'A-OK!'

Cosmonauts - 'A-OK!'

Street Date, August 19th, 2016, Burger Records

Cosmonauts came into being in 2009 in outer space or Orange County, depending on the way you like to look at things. The band was originally formed by Derek Cowart and Alexander Ahmadi after he heard Cowart play a Spaceman3 song solo at a show in their home town of Fullerton, CA. The two were students at different high schools but as it turned out, of the same musical school of thought: two lovers of lofi, adorers of the atmospheric, kindred poploving spirits. The two bonded over the Velvet Underground and Brian Jonestown Massacre, and quickly turned their mutual appreciation club into a band. Cosmonauts have been making music ever since, picking up bassist James Sanderson and a host of different drummers along the way (the spot is currently filled by Mark Morones). Now residing in Los Angeles, they’ve put out a number of releases through Burger Records and various other labels.

They’ve toured extensively through the US and Europe, and played alongside Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Pixies, Slowdive, Black Lips, Belle & Sebastian, and more, though Cosmonauts don’t exactly fit neatly into the fabric of their scene: too psychedelic to be punk, too punk to be psychedelic, and too absorbed in making their own brand of music to care.

Their latest offering, A-OK!, is out August 19th via Burger Records.

Track Listing:
1. A-OK! **
2. Doom Generation
3. Party At Sunday **
4. Be-Bop-A-Loser
5. Shortwave Communication **
6. Heavenspeak
7. Good Lucky Blessing **
8. Cruisin’
9. Discophilia
10. Graffiti

Todd Rundgren @ Pershing Square

August 20

CONCERTS START AT 8PM

Todd Rundgren

A Wizard, A True Star. The title of Todd Rundgren's 1973 solo album aptly sums up the contributions of this multi-faceted artist to state-of-the-art music. As a songwriter, video pioneer, producer, recording artist, computer software developer, conceptualist, and interactive artist (re-designated TR-i), Rundgren has made a lasting impact on both the form and content of popular music.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Rundgren began playing guitar as a teenager, going on to found and front The Nazz, the quintessential `60's cult group. In 1969, he left the band to pursue a solo career, recording his debut offering, the legendary Runt. But it was 1972's seminal Something/Anything?, on which he played all the instruments, sang all the vocal parts, and acted as his own producer, that catapulted Todd into the superstar limelight, prompting the press to unanimously dub him 'Rock's New Wunderkind'. It was followed by such landmark LPs as The Hermit of Mink Hollow and the above mentioned A Wizard, A True Star, as well as such hit singles as I Saw The Light, Hello It's Me, Can We Still Be Friends, and Bang The Drum.

In 1974, Todd formed Utopia, an entirely new approach to the concept of interactive musicianship, and embarked on an extensive round of touring and recording. Standout Utopia offerings included Oops! Wrong Planet, Adventures in Utopia, and Oblivion. Along the way, Utopia combined technical virtuosity and creative passion to create music that, for millions, defined the term "progressive rock."

Rundgren's myriad production projects include albums by Patti Smith, Cheap Trick, Psychedelic Furs, Meatloaf, XTC, Grand Funk Railroad, and Hall And Oates. Rounding out his reputation as rock's Renaissance Man, Rundgren composed all the music and lyrics for Joe Papp's 1989 Off-Broadway production of Joe Orton's Up Against It (the screenplay commisioned by The Beatles for what was meant to have been their third motion picture). He also has composed the music for a number of television series, including Pee Wee’s Playhouse and Crime Story.

In 2012 Rundgren performed his iconic 1973 album A Wizard A True Star in concert in its entireity for the first time ever, and last year did the same with a double bill: Todd & Healing. His latest studio album, GLOBAL, was released in April 2015; he continues to tour with Ringo Starr as an erstwhile member of the All-Starr Band, and to perform with symphony orchestras both domestically and internationally.

In 1998 Todd debuted his new PatroNet technology which for the first time allowed fans of a musical artist to subscribe directly to the artist’s musical output via the Internet. This caps a long history of groundbreaking early multimedia "firsts", including:

• 1978: The first interactive television concert, broadcast live over the Warner/QUBE system in Columbus, Ohio (the home audience chose each song.in real time during the concert by voting via QUBE’s 2-way operating system).

• 1978: The first live nationally broadcast stereo radio concert (by microwave), linking 40 cities around the country.

• 1979: The opening of Utopia Video Studios, a multi-million dollar state-of-the-art facility. The first project produced by Todd there is Gustav Holst’s The Planets, commissioned by RCA SelectaVision as the first demonstration software for their new videodisc format.

• 1980: Creation of the first color graphics tablet, which was licensed to Apple and released as The Utopia Graphics Tablet.

• 1981: Time Heals, the first music video to utilize state-of-the-art compositing of live action and computer graphics (produced and directed by Todd), becomes the second video to be played on MTV (after Video Killed the Radio Star).

• 1982: The first live national cablecast of a rock concert (on the USA Network), simulcast in stereo to over 120 radio stations.

• 1982: The first two commercially released music videos, one of which was nominated for the first-ever Grammy awarded for “Best Short Form Video” in 1983.

• 1992: The release of “No World Order”, the world’s first interactive record album on CD-i. Also the first commercially available music downloads via CompuServe.

• 1994: The release of “The Individualist”, the world’s first full-length Enhanced CD.

• 1995: The world’s first interactive concert tour.

• 1998: Launches PatroNet, the world’s first direct artist subscription service

With temperatures rapidly rising, the beaches quickly filling up on weekends and all of the kids out of school, summer is definitely here. For Orange County residents, that also means the arrival of the annual OC Fair and the accompanying concert series at Pacific Amphitheatre, which is located on the fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.
This year, things kick off a bit early at the outdoor venue as promoters announced a few pre-OC Fair gigs including back-to-back headlining shows with Santa Barbara-based reggae rock band Iration July 9-10, Australian electronic duo, Empire of the Sun, on July 13 and classic rock band Three Dog Night will be joined by Orange County’s own Pacific Symphony for a special evening of music on July 14.
The OC Fair and Pacific Amphitheatre series officially begins July 15 and runs Wednesdays-Sundays through Aug. 14. As always, every ticket purchased to concerts in the amphitheatre includes free one-day admission to the OC Fair.
This will be the fourth consecutive season that Iration has performed at Pacific Amphitheatre and in that time the band has grown from being an opening act to headlining two nights. It’s also bringing out a bunch of its friends during these shows including Rebel Souljahz, Katastro and the Steppas on July 9 and Collie Buddz, Seedless and the Expanders on July 10.
