Tropic of Cancer shares new track from upcoming Blackest Ever Black compilation

TROPIC OF CANCER SHARES NEW TRACK
VIA THE FADER

TAKEN FROM I CANT GIVE YOU THE LIFE YOU WANT
A NEW VINYL-ONLY COMPILATION
OUT IN SEPTEMBER ON BLACKEST EVER BLACK
I Can’t Give You The Life You Want is a new vinyl-only compilation from Blackest Ever Black, exclusively manufactured and distributed by Mount Analog.
Available in a strictly limited edition of 500 copies, it will be released in the USA in September 2015, with a handful set aside for EU/worldwide customers to order direct from the label.
Its eleven tracks were conceived in a range of different circumstances and locations, and not according to any specific brief, but in spite of this they appear, collectively, to offer an imaginative response to Los Angeles shadow-life. These songs are not about LA, but LA is present, unbidden, in all of them. Across nearly an hour of previously unreleased music, the city's topography, its patterns of desire and disillusionment, are powerfully evoked.
Tropic of Cancer open the compilation with ‘I Woke Up And The Storm Was Over’, Camella Lobo’s first new song since 2013’s Restless Idylls LP. She says of the track:

“I Woke Up and the Storm Was Over” was the first track I had written and recorded in more than a year.

It’s a very personal song. I was coming out of a very rough year. I wanted to package up my feelings in order to understand them. The perspective it gave was a big relief and integral to moving forward with my life.

I’ve entered a period where I’m much more into taking my time with everything in general. I think this track reflects that. I used to rush through the writing process instead of tending to ideas over a longer period of time.

This track is also the first time I worked with Joshua Eustis (Telefon Telaviv/Sons of Magdalene.) The addition of his mixing and production transformed the impact of the track and shaped it into more than I ever imagined."
I Can’t Give You The Life You Want is housed in a full-colour sleeve with xeroxed insert. All copies bought directly from Mount Analog’s LA store will come bundled with a free Blackest Ever Black cassette mixtape entitled Truth Or Dare In North America. Please note that copies purchased from other stores, including BEB’s own webshop, do not include the mixtape. It's out this September.

"Sarrano crafts a sound that is hauntingly eerie. Bringing this palette to a canvas that includes country, psych, Southern Gothic, even industrial, it’s easy to imagine this song scoring True Detective‘s first season."
Elmore Magazine

"Thayer Sarrano is one of my favorite new artists. She's a quadruple threat, as she writes super cool songs, has an amazing voice and plays both guitars and keys extremely well. She's also a great stage presence and person. She has given both my daughter and I piano lessons, but please don't hold my piano abilities against her. That's not her fault."
Patterson Hood (Drive-By Truckers)

Thayer Sarrano is forging her own path into a southern- psych-dreamland, bottling up ghosts and bringing them to life through her ethereal desert rock hymns. The tones tremble and bend, layered in swirling atmospherics. The angelic voice will pull you in close to share devastatingly beautiful and heart-breaking secrets, while shadowy figures dance in the background. This is music that envelops the listener and may transport you to another world or time. A magical place that is melancholic and haunting, yet bursting with heavenly light.

Jesse Malin Announces New Album; Tour

JESSE MALIN ANNOUNCES SECOND ALBUM 'OUTSIDERS,' IN 2015; ANNOUNCES TOUR DATES

Fresh off the heels of New York Before The War, Jesse Malin returns with his latest album, Outsiders, due out October 9th on One Little Indian / Velvet Elk Records. Malin describes Outsiders as "a record built out of optimism and disgust - one for the leavers, the believers, the hustlers and the chicken hawks who could never catch us." Born from late night recording sessions in the Pennsylvania woods with producer Don DiLego, far from any expectations, this new record presents Jesse Malin in his rawest form yet.

Clinging tight to the gritty style we've come to know and love from the singer/songwriter, Malin, reacquaints us with a prominent theme: forming and fortifying connections in an isolating world.  Tipped off by lead single'You Know It's Dark When The Atheists Start To Pray,' the track enlightens listeners to the bold idea that taking a step away from an over-urban life will only serve to bring you closer to what you want.

Malin had spent the previous five years toggling between being on the road and in the studio. In possession of a prolific amount of tracks Malin decided to approach the unnerving subject of feeling isolated in an overpopulated city.  In his single Malin confesses 'to get close, I had to go far away;' a relatable idea to anyone who's ever felt alone than when surrounded by thousands of people.  Stephen M Deusner of pitchfork says of Malin's last album; ' this is the New York of our collective imagination peopled with dreamers and artists, gutter saints and garage bands.'  The CD is an unintentional soundtrack to Jack Kerouac's essential angst-ridden reading On The Road.

With his last album welcomed to wide acclaim, his forthcoming release is on everyone's radar. "New York Before the War is a metaphor for surviving in an ever-changing, rapidly desensitized world, while trying to find a way to live truly," Malin states, and it seems this idea hasn't strayed far from his mind with his upcoming album. Malin easily forges unsolicited bonds with his listeners hoping for exactly the same thing he is; awarmconnection in a cold world.

"...a fine-tuned ear for faded garage and psych sounds: melodic riffs, little shrieks, noisy smears of feedback sludge." - The FADER

Sunflower Bean just announced a massive tour with DIIV and released a 7" vinyl via Fat Possum, and today they unveil a new music video. Directed by Kyle Hide, the video was inspired by YouTube, today's dependence on social media, and the ever-looming Big Brother. PRESS HERE to watch now via Noisey and see below for tour routing.
