(June 16, 2026) – Today, the elusive singer-songwriter daine returns with their first new single of the year, “PQC” via Pack. Records. The track arrives alongside a Dylan Marriot-directed video that finds daine leading a playful cheer routine built around the song’s biting refrain, “You’re plastic / You’re tragic / Overly-romantic / It happens like magic / Can’t seem to let it go.” Written and produced alongside Curtis Everett Pawley, "PQC" marks a move away from heavy digital processing and toward something more exposed and human. The new single is also an early taste of a forthcoming debut album.
“PQC” explores the courage it takes to be seen, misunderstood and publicly vulnerable, while continuing to love anyway, romanticising sensitivity rather than hiding from it and capturing the tension between self-protection and the instinct to keep giving pieces of yourself away. Speaking about the single daine shares, “‘PQC’ is a total embrace of failure, in all its glory. An optimistic love letter to oversensitivity. It explores the strength and softness it takes to show yourself to the world…the erosion of your boundaries - the courage to be publicly hated and feel it all. It is an ecstatic forgiveness of self and the world.”
daine has spent over half a decade exploring a diverse, but distinct sonic palette experimenting with their vocal delivery and refining their craft as a songwriter. The Filipino-Australian artist first emerged through the orbit of Charli XCX’s co-sign, crafting music that sounded simultaneously blown-out and diaristic, intimate confessions stretched into maximalist soundscapes. Since the release of daine’s 2025 EP i want the light to swallow me whole, their profile has continued to expand, with their world-building and genre-fluid approach reaching an ever-growing audience. A major part of that momentum came through their appearance on Ninajirachi’s breakout album I Love My Computer, where “It’s You” — particularly after the underscores remix began circulating online — became the kind of song that existed everywhere at once.
daine is heading on tour with Ninajirachi and Lucy Bedroque across Australia this Summer. The tour begins in Sydney July 3rd and continues on to Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne. daine will also be performing at Pitchfork London and Pitchfork Paris this fall. The upcoming dates follow a European support run with yeule and collaborations spanning Oli Sykes (Bring Me The Horizon), Ericdoa, 100 gecs and Kreayshawn.
