Grammy‑winning artist Joe Jackson releases his new studio album, HOPE AND FURY (earMUSIC). The album presents nine new songs recorded between Berlin and New York. Initial work began at Michael Tibes’ Fuzz Factory studio in Berlin before Jackson returned to New York City to continue the sessions with co-producer Patrick Dillett at Reservoir Studios. On the album, he is joined by his longtime band – bassist Graham Maby, who has recorded and toured with Jackson since his debut album Look Sharp!guitarist Teddy Kumpel, and drummer Doug Yowell – augmented by percussion from Peruvian musician Paulo Stagnaro.

PURCHASE/STREAM HOPE AND FURY

Hope and Fury was initially heralded at the end of last year with the first single, "Welcome to Burning-By-Sea," in which Jackson sketches, with his characteristic sharp wit, a fictional English seaside town – inspired by Brighton and his hometown Portsmouth – which becomes a microcosm of the whole country, with all its contrasts and contradictions. The second single released was "Fabulous People," which highlights a more rhythmic, radio-forward side of the album, built around a tight, dance-leaning groove and Jackson’s unmistakable melodic precision and wit. The third was "After All This Time," which finds Jackson in classic bittersweet melodic mode as he reflects on relationships.

To celebrate Hope and Fury, Jackson and his band will embark on a major North American tour starting in May, followed by an extensive European run starting in September. In total, Joe Jackson will perform 80 shows across 14 countries. Tickets are available via Joe Jackson’s website.

Dividing his time between New York City and Portsmouth, Jackson describes himself as “bicoastal” both geographically and musically — and the new album, Hope and Fury, as Bicoastal LatinJazzFunkRock.
