Boston’s breakout band Couch returned home this week to mark a defining hometown moment—headlining the Boston Marathon’s Official Afterparty on Patriots’ Day and launching the return of their annual Earth Day partnership with local nonprofit Mass Audubon—combining a celebration of the city with a renewed commitment to giving back.
The performance followed the band’s 40-city international headline tour in support of their debut album Big Talk, which took them across the U.S. and Europe and marked a breakout stretch that included their national television debut on CBS and a historic sold-out show at Roadrunner—making Couch the first fully self-managed, independent band to do so at the 3,500-capacity venue.

Back in Boston, the band leaned fully into the spirit of Marathon Monday with a one-night-only headline set that celebrated the city at every turn. The performance featured high-energy moments, local nods, and surprise appearances from Boston icons including Wally the Green Monster, Tessie, and Patriot Pat, who joined the band onstage during the set.
“Getting to be part of Marathon Monday in Boston, after everything this past year has been, was surreal,” the band shared. “There’s nothing like this city showing up the way it does.”
The hometown performance marked another defining moment in Couch’s rapid ascent—from a local favorite to a globally touring, fully independent act—while reinforcing a connection to Boston that remains central to the band’s identity.
Continuing that connection beyond the stage, Couch also announced the return of their Earth Day partnership with Mass Audubon for the second consecutive year. Through the initiative, the band is directing all proceeds from a limited-edition Earth Day vinyl release toward Mass Audubon’s work addressing climate change, protecting wildlife, and expanding equitable access to nature across Massachusetts.
The partnership reflects a growing priority for Couch: using their platform not just to reach audiences around the world, but to give back in a meaningful, local way—starting with the community that has supported them from the beginning.
Following a year that has included a global headline tour, a national television debut, and a sold-out hometown milestone, Couch’s Marathon Monday performance and continued Earth Day initiative signal a band hitting its stride—at scale, and with purpose.

Between 2019 and 2021, high school and college friends Couch began writing and recording remotely as they began to build a following online. Their debut self-titled EP arrived in 2021 as they began playing live shows for the first time on small, self-booked tours. By 2023, they shared their sophomore EP, Sunshower, appeared at Boston Calling and Levitate played a 40 city U.S. headline tour and support dates in Europe. Now, after completing an international headline tour and sharing their debut record, the seven-piece band–Zach Blankstein (lead guitar, vocals), Tema Siegel (lead vocals), Jared Gozinsky (drums), Will Griffin (bass), Danny Silverston (keys), Jeffrey Pinsker-Smith (trumpet) and Eric Tarlin (saxophone) looks ahead and promises more to come.
