“...trust me, you want to catch up on these songs” -Stereogum
“a quiet gem….emotionally resonant without overstating its case…a compelling moment of honest songwriting...radiates wistful nostalgia” -Audiofuzz
“...feels like the very end of summer, when you start reminiscing about the season and longing for a little more time to fit everything in….a fun, lilting track with oddly twanging guitar that is instantly infectious….sounds like a collaboration between Feist and Faye Webster" -If It’s Too Loud
“Do you hold images and videos of my body in your mind or did you forget it all?” Katy Ohsiek asks on Katy & the Null Sets' album closer, “Shouldn't I Be Done?," moments later admitting their recollection is muddy as well… “I think we came here together once / or was that someone else?” Incorporating a steady, somber beat yet a lilting air - the track is a vulnerable inner monologue - part pep talk and ultimately an ode to self preservation over coupledom.
“Basically this is a song about having exes. But the takeaway of this song is a lesson that is really important and I am still trying to internalize, which is best captured by the final lyrics: “the only ride or die is me and my own company.” In a world that prioritizes marriage it’s difficult to feel whole when you’re unmarried, but I believe that we are all whole as individuals and we do not need to find our “other half” to live a beautiful life. It’s kind of cliche, but the person you spend the most time with in your life is yourself, so you should actually love yourself first. An oft-repeated platitude is often very true!”
“Shouldn’t I Be Done?” follows the singles; "I Wish I Had Met You in the Summer," "F#ck me!" and "Last Time/Next Time" from the imminent album, Troublemaker, out everywhere on October 24th.
