(October 21, 2025) - Mysterious, subterranean artist and producer Oxis shares new single “Piranha”. The glitchy, synth-layered new track follows the recently shared single “Fry,” which was highlighted in Pigeons & Planes must-hear songs of the week round up upon release. Her latest single continues Oxis’ prolific output this year, following the projects Oxis 7 and the surprise Sardine Tin EP of reimagined covers from the marine-inspired artist project. Both “Fry” and “Piranha” provide very unique explorations of Oxis’ landscape of sounds. Where “Fry” exploded with a bright pop sensibility, “Piranha” is methodical built, subtly building behind Oxis’ beckoning vocals that ask “How do I turn it off?”.
Oxis is currently supporting Magdalena Bay for a run of shows across North America, wrapping next week. Oxis recently sat with The FADER to discuss the tour, share behind-the-scenes photos from the road, and chat about her relation to live shows throughout her life. Following the tour, Oxis will perform headline shows in Toronto at The Garrison on October 28th and in New York City at Elsewhere (Zone One) on October 29th. You can find the full rundown of remaining Oxis live shows below.
Oxis’ music invites deep exploration, and like the vast oceanbodies that Oxis hails from, “Piranha” and “Fry” hint that there’s much more to discover underneath the surface with her next project coming this Winter. Oxis is a vessel to express the heightened intensity of those universal teenage emotions, when everything feels like either the jubilant height of one’s life or a descent into a pressure cooker of dark despair. The Oxis projects represent an embrace of the moments those feelings are at their most intense, capturing life’s experiences as they come to embody their true essence in sound.
The Oxis project was initially conceived in 2023, as an exercise of creative liberation and an ode to a very distinct channel of marine electronica. As Oxis, she’s released 7 projects over the last two years with her self-titled project series, consistently iterating on her sound and developing a devoted following in the process. Her work caught the eye of Julian Casablancas, who she opened respective LA and NYC shows for in 2024, and she’s garnered acclaim from Office Magazine and Pigeons and Planes, who named Oxis on their Best New Artists list earlier this year and hosted a Medium Sized Backyard session with the artist, which you can check out HERE.
Sink into “Piranha” above and stay tuned for more from Oxis coming very soon.
