PRAISE FOR FRANCES BAKER

"22 year old Berkeley student Frances Baker had only released one song in her own name - “Bringing Me Down” - but when Arlo Parks heard the indie-pop and neo-soul debut single she immediately recognised Baker’s raw talent, and invited her to join her on tour."
-Rollacoaster Magazine

-Earmilk

"Frances dropped her first track, ‘Bringing Me Down’, whilst touring with Arlo Parks across the UK a few months back. Arlo called Frances“My favourite vegan legend with golden taste,” with the two connecting after Arloheard demos of Frances’ music in other writing sessions."

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and producer Frances Baker has a vision—and it’s wrapped in lace, written in cursive, and lit by candlelight. With the release of her upcoming EP, Isabella’s House, out October 31st, Baker opens the door to her most fully realized world yet: soft, ethereal, and hauntingly feminine.

Raised in Nashville on folk and blues, Baker began making music at just fourteen. Her first EP was born in her parents’ basement during the pandemic—a DIY effort that set her on a path to a UK tour supporting Arlo Parks, who recognized Baker’s rising-star presence and invited her on stage.

Now, with Isabella’s House, Baker presents her most intentional work to date. “I’ve always made music in a ‘go with the flow’ kind of way,” she shares. “But this time, I took a long pause and asked myself—who do I really want to be? A big relationship ended, and I realized... sometimes even the people closest to us don’t truly know us.”

She continues, “I thought about what really mattered to me. What I wanted. This project is the curd of boiling all my thoughts down. This is who I am—a girl looking for a getaway, a girl who is who she is.”

The focus track, “Isabella’s House”, follows previous singles “allforyou” and “Get Free”—each one a delicate invitation into Baker’s cinematic inner world. Her music blends smooth, sultry vocals—evoking shades of Lana Del Rey and Amy Winehouse—with intimate lyricism and vintage-inspired vignettes.

“‘Isabella’s House’ is strings ringing like John Barry melodies… lyrics soaked in escapism,” Baker says. It sweeps you away into a moonlit adventure in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. My dream. Candlelit bedrooms and paintings of woe.”

Maybe I’m a daydreamer. Maybe I’m an escape artist. Isabella’s House is a series of invitations into fantastical moments—falling in love, running away from parties, dreaming of museum hideaways. It’s where I spend most of my time: in my head, dreaming.”

Frances Baker’s EP Isabella’s House and its focus track are out October 31st on all streaming platforms.
