'DOMINO BONES (GETS DANGEROUS)'

As an all-star band featuring iconic names in the shape of Happy Mondays / Black Grape duo Shaun Ryder and Bez with Andy Bell (OasisRide) and Zak Starkey (Oasis, The Who, Johnny Marr), Mantra of the Cosmos captured a wave of interest with their first two singles ‘Gorilla Guerilla’ and ‘X (Wot You Sayin?)’ as well as a memorable Glastonbury debut, headlining the Glade Stage.

That fascination was naturally amplified when they were joined by Oasis legend Noel Gallagher for the single ‘Domino Bones (Gets Dangerous)’ which instantly sold-out its limited edition vinyl pressing. Now, Mantra of the Cosmos are set to reach a much bigger audience as ‘Domino Bones (Gets Dangerous)’ receives its full official release.

Named after Bez’s first band, ‘Domino Bones (Gets Dangerous)’ is a whirlwind of psychedelic chaos, a maximalist explosion of heady psychedelia, thumping big beat and sprawling acid rock. Or as Zak Starkey states, “It’s ‘Free Bird’ for mods.” Listen HERE.

Zak Starkey says, “I can’t wait to get this song out there and on the airwaves. The Cavern gigs were amazing, as was the reaction to the vinyl release.  Working with people like Noel, Shaun, Andy and Bez is always a pleasure - these are the greatest musicians of their generation. We have more singles coming this year with some VERY special guests - this is the year of the Mantra!”

In a conversation with The TimesNoel Gallagher stated: “It’s Dylan, Dali, Ginsberg and a bit of cosmic jibber-jabber. Add in Bez, who dances on the tunes like Zak plays the drums and Andy Bell plays all things stringed, and you have it.”

The accompanying video for the track was filmed by  Zak Starkey using his four year old daughter’s toys, and edited by Nick Franco at 1185Films. Watch HERE.

The track’s original launch with a limited edition vinyl 7’’ also received further media coverage including NMERadio XThe GuardianRolling Stone, Evening Standard and Clash. The collective celebrated the release of the single by playing two shows at Liverpool’s storied Cavern Club: the venue where Zak’s father, Ringo Starr, cut his teeth with The Beatles.

The idea behind Mantra of The Cosmos started when Zak Starkey formed a supergroup - featuring Liam Gallagher, Roger Daltrey, Ian Broudie, Bonehead and Jay Mehler - to perform ‘My Generation’ during a revival of the TV show ‘TFI Friday’in 2015Zak met Shaun Ryder that night, and soon followed up to suggest forming a band in which Shaun’s charismatic lyrics were the focal point. Shaun volunteered Bez to join the fun during that same conversation, before Zak completed the line-up with his old Oasis bandmate Andy Bell.

The connection between Zak and Noel Gallagher started in 1995 when the guitarist dropped in to see the drummer rehearsing with his band FaceZak subsequently met Liam Gallagher at Oasis’s Earls Court shows in 1996. As he remembers, “We’re mods, so we got on straight away.” Zak joined Oasis in 2004 and remained until 2009, playing on the albums ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’ and ‘Dig Out Your Soul’.

Expect more new music from Mantra of the Cosmos later this year.
