Picture: Ahmed Gallab outside his father's primary school in 2017 Today, ahead of a string of US and UK live dates, Sinkane has shared a new single, “K Town Boogie”, with proceeds from sales via tomorrow’s Bandcamp Friday to be donated to the Madaniya 2024 Fundraiser/Sudan Solidarity Collective.   Speaking on the track, Ahmed Gallab, aka Sinkane, comments: "I wrote K Town Boogie after my trip to Sudan in 2017. It was a very eye-opening and inspiring trip. I got to meet so many amazing people, doing so much for the country, in spite of being controlled by an oppressive regime. At the time, 75% of Sudan’s population was 24 years old and younger. These kids went on to overthrow Omar El-Bashir, the longest-running dictator in African history. Since then, life in Sudan went from being hopeful to absolute terror. A war between 2 power-hungry military leaders has led to the largest humanitarian crisis on Earth. Famine and death. As of 8 September 2024, 20,000+ people have been killed and 33,000 others injured. Over 7.7 million were internally displaced and more than 2.1 million others have fled the country as refugees. Many civilians in Darfur have been reported dead as part of the Masalit massacres. I’ve lost 2 cousins to this crisis. My entire mother’s side of my family has been displaced outside of Sudan. Almost every Sudanese person you ask will tell you the same thing. We want people to be aware of what is going on in Sudan.
