(September 27, 2024) - New York City’s duendita releases their new EP the mind is a miracle. Across the 8-track project, duendita meditates on love, recovery and explores acceptance and introspection to the tune of intricately produced and masterfully performed musicalities. Made between New York and Berlin, it’s a body of work that celebrates collaboration, experimentation, and community. Many friends and loved ones of duendita are heavily sampled throughout the work. Along with the influence of confidants, the project was also very informed by live performances of the songs to help determine how the tracks should evolve. duendita flows through playful topics like having a crush along with more serious topics like mental health / illness on the mind is a miracle, creating an artwork that is an honest reflection on healing.
the mind is a miracle will include previously released songs “born with power”, created with longtime friend and collaborator Noah Becker featuring pianist Paul Wilson as a reminder that we are both innately capable and responsible for contributing to our collective experience on Earth, and “planetary”, recorded at Baketown, an experimental recording studio and art space in Schöneberg, to celebrate growth and self-love.
duendita is a band from Queens, New York. They write and produce their own music, imbuing it with a reverence for their ancestry, community, and faith. Anchored by achy, bass-coated tones and mix of jazz, piano, soul and R&B, duendita's music is evocative of the complexities and sentimentality of the human experience. Flowing in various shapes and formations, duendita is a living collaborative project made with family and friends across mediums and cities.
