Taken From New Album The Phone Booth Sessions Vol. 1 - Out Sept. 17

June 14, 2024 - New York, NYMindy Gledhill shares a new video today for 'Pleased To Meet Me,' taken from her new forthcoming album The Phone Booth Sessions Vol 1. The set is slated for a September 17 release via her own Blue Morph Label. This is Gledhill's seventh full-length LP as well as the first she shares a co-producer credit on. To kick the campaign off, she released her cover of The Cranberries' smash hit 'Dreams' last month that has garnered over 86,000 views so far.

The Phone Booth Sessions Vol. 1 is the follow up to 2019's Rabbit Hole, a collection of songs about Gledhill's decision to leave the Mormon faith. This album sees her on the other side of that experience and addressing her inner child, a series of love songs to herself, all inspired by a vintage phone booth she found in a thrift store that ultimately served as a recording booth for her vocals. Tracklist below.

“I’ve spent the last decade deconstructing the psychological effects of the high control religion I was raised in. This new chapter is one of “reconstruction” from the ground up – starting with my inner child. One day, after a therapy session where my therapist introduced the concept of “Inner child work” to me, I happened to stop in at an antique store on my way home. I walked past an old phone booth. Like electricity, the idea came to me – “What if I converted that phone booth into a vocal booth, to call up my younger self and record songs for her that embodied the messages she always needed to hear?” So I did just that, and concept for ‘The Phone Booth Sessions’ was born."

For 'Pleased To Meet Me,' The clip was shot in two historic theaters – The Casino Star in Gunnison, UT (oldest running movie theater west of the Mississippi) and the Caine Lyric Theater in Logan, UT. It sees Gledhill looking at old movie footage of her childhood asking the question: If you could go back in time and send a message to your childhood self, what would your grownup self say to heal your earliest inner wounds? The song and accompanying video is her orchestrally bespoke, heart-melting response to this tender and transformative question.

“I grew up as the eighth child in a family of nine children. One could have the most perfect parents possible and still never get the amount of nurturing a child needs in a family of that size. I was alone in the obstacles of my youth. A lot. This song is a metaphorical visitation to my younger self to truly see her. She doesn’t need advice or a lecture. She doesn’t need to prove her worthiness. She deserves to be known – like it's a true pleasure to witness her uniqueness as a human being. All children deserve that.”
