“Cow punk hero” (Texas Music) Alejandro Escovedo announces additional summer and fall tour dates in support of Echo Dancing, a career-spanning collection that reimagines 14 tracks from his vast catalog and “ties together a lifetime of songs by one of the most eclectic and celebrated modern troubadours" (Texas Standard).

The 32-date tour run includes stops along the West Coast in July and twelve dates with Jason Isbell throughout September. A complete list of dates is below, and tickets are now on sale here

Charting on 11 Billboard charts upon release, including Top New Artist Albums, Americana/Folk, and Current Rock, Echo Dancing traces a one-of-a-kind musical life from ‘70s New York punk to Austin's "musical conscience and hometown hero" (NPR Alt Latino) to unflinching advocate for musicians’ mental health and immigrant causes. Less a look back than a bold new turn for this sonic adventurer and singular creative mind, Echo Dancing finds Escovedo revisiting rarities from his ‘80s Austin groups Buick MacKane and The True Believers (recent Austin City Limits Hall of Fame inductees), solo standouts from the ‘90s, which had No Depression crown him Artist Of The Decade, to more recent work of 2018’s scorching and cinematic border epic The Crossing.

“I always feel that a well-written song can withstand a lot of abuse,” Escovedo says. “Turning a past song inside out leads to discovery of new ideas you might not have understood about the song. Even lyrical refurbishing has proven helpful and effective. It's like interpreting your own work anew. The songs never seem to be complete. They are always evolving."

“This record breathes a second life into these songs,” says Americana pioneer Alejandro Escovedo of Echo Dancing. The variety of songs range from his short-lived rock quartet Buick MacKane, rarities from his ‘80s alt-country outfit The True Believers, to the celebrated songs of his solo discography from his debut album to his most recent sprawling masterpiece, The Crossing. Highlights include a reimagined trip-hop-funk hybrid of “Castanets” (retitled here as “Castañuelas''), a blistering version of “Bury Me” that finds that songwriter now older than the characters he was singing about, as well as songs co-written with trailblazers such as Chuck Prophet, Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey and J. Steven Soles. At age 73, Escovedo continues to reshape his ever-changing sound and experiment with the boundaries of music.

Arranged and produced by Escovedo with Don Antonio and Nicola Peruch at Waveroof Studio in Castel Bolognese, Italy. "I was planning this record just prior to boarding a plane to Italy to record with [co-producers] Don Antonio and Nicola Peruch," says Escovedo. "My original idea was to record an album of new material. But then I changed my mind and thought that revisiting songs from my various albums would be more interesting. I always feel that a well-written song can withstand a lot of abuse.”
