(May 14th, 2024) - Following her critically acclaimed album For Your Consideration, Empress Of returns to announce her full North American, UK and European tour. Launching September 24th in San Diego, Empress Of will be taking her catalog on the road with live dates in Washington D.C., New York, Boston, Mexico and Montreal among others before heading across the pond for the European and UK leg of her tour. These new tour dates follow her upcoming sold-out run of album release shows beginning next week including three nights in New York, three nights in Toronto, and one night in Los Angeles. The tour announcement also comes alongside Empress Of’s participation in W Magazine’s iconic Celebrity ASMR video series.
For Your Consideration, a follow-up to 2020’s I’m Your Empress Of and 2022’s Save Me EP, is a bi-lingual album that embraces camp and fantasy playing with the idea of Hollywood. Lorely wrote the album in LA, Miami, and Montreal, and worked with a collection of songwriters and producers, including Nick León, Billboard, Valley Girls, Cecile Believe, and Umru. The album evolved out of the title track, which Lorely conjured out of the midst of disappointment. Empress Of shares, "I was in love with a director and he was announcing his ‘For Your Consideration’ campaign for the Oscars,” she remembers. “He took me up on a hill and said he was emotionally unavailable and he kind of broke my heart. I went into the studio that day and we wrote a song called ‘For Your Consideration’ that reflects on glam and Hollywood. That was the gateway for the album and it gave me the opportunity to explore broader themes."
The album sees Empress Of taking on the role of executive producer. Inspired by vocal music, she infuses each track with layers of her voice which serve as the drum beats, the bass, and the keyboard lines, with ASMR breathing surfacing throughout the album. The songs, which veer between English and Spanish, reflect on the transactional nature of love and sex, which is mirrored by the ephemeral sense of existence in the entertainment industry.
For Your Consideration has been met with widespread critical acclaim with cosigns from NPR, Rolling Stone, The Cut, Remezcla, The FADER, a Best New Music stamp from Pitchfork and more. Though not even six months into the year, it’s clear to see that 2024 is Empress Of’s for the taking.
