(April 12th, 2024) - Today, Rina Sawayama shares a new gyarupi remix of "This Hell" exclusively on Spotify as Spotify Singles in celebration of this year's Tokyo Rainbow Pride. "This Hell" is a joyous roaring anthem and the new version is a truly bi-lingual queer celebration featuring South-Korean Japanese rapper CHANMINA. CHANMINA shares about the collaboration, "How can we choose not to love someone when there are so many people who deserve to be loved? I hope that the days of having to keep talking about such an obvious thing will soon be over. But, maybe, we're almost there. I will keep raising my voice if I can change this hell."

The new track follows Rina's passionate plea for LGBTQ+ rights at Summer Sonic Festival in Japan in 2022 in which she called for marriage equality. During her set Rina expressed, "I’m bisexual, but if I try to have a same-sex marriage here, I can’t. It’s not allowed in Japan. Out of the G7 countries, it’s the only one that doesn’t have that protection. LGBT people are human beings. LGBT people are Japanese. Love is love. Family is family. Let’s fight together."

Rina has consistently opened up about personal experiences with her brilliant lyrical storytelling throughout her musical career. The Pride single follows Rina's collaboration with Elton John on her song "Chosen Family," in which Rina highlights the many members of the LGBTQ+ community who have been ostracized by their family or friends after coming out, to find love and comfort in their new "chosen" family. In 2020 the single was played as the final song of the Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony in Tokyo. The collaboration with CHANMINA also follows "Send My Love To John," an emotional song off Rina's most recent album Hold The Girl, in which she illustrates the story of a close queer friends relationship with their estranged mother after coming out and falling in love.

Over the past year, Rina has taken the world by storm with her acting debut in John Wick: Chapter 4 alongside Keanu Reeves, her masterfully re-designed world tour, and her in-depth interview with the BBC in which Rina revealed more of the context behind her sophomore album Hold The Girl.

Upon its release, John Wick: Chapter 4 broke box office records for the franchise hitting #1 at the domestic box office. Rina received high praise for her performance with The Wrap noting she, "gets some of the best choreography of the film, letting arrows fly as she launches herself from villain to villain in her Katniss Everdeen-meets-dominatrix best." Mashable added, "Rina Sawayama exudes ruthless amounts of cool," with The Hollywood Reporter noting that Rina, "will undoubtedly be seen in future editions." Upon the film's release, Rina also appeared on Good Morning America and sat down for a couch conversation with Jimmy Fallon. Rina's vocals are also featured in the end credits of the film on the track "Eye For An Eye."

Listen to the new rendition of "This Hell" featuring CHANMINA above and stay tuned for more.
