There is a special event hosted by Scout Gillett on Nov. 2nd at LA's Brain Dead Studios: to celebrate the 1-year anniversary of her acclaimed debut album no roof no floor (Captured Tracks), the Brooklyn-based artist will premiere her spellbinding, experimental short film for hypnotic LP track "hush stay quiet" at the historic silent movie theater site, followed by a full band live performance showcasing the record; Laena Myers (formerly of FEELS) opens the show and Ian Svenonius will be DJing. "Inspired by the photography of Francesca Woodman and The Ringling Bros circa 1920, I embarked on designing a film that would resonate with the song itself," explains Scout. "As it's important to me to stay true to my roots, I invited my cousin, Jacob Kruse, to compose the introductory arrangement. It was at his piano as a child where I first found my voice. Julie Orlick, the director of photography, shot on 16 mm film with a Bolex H-16 REX-5. My goal was to evoke the same timeless nostalgia present in the accompanying song and leave the film's viewers inspired and pensive, prepared to--as the song urges--save themselves."
The event begins at 7pm
