Angular riffs and super-melodic vocals that feel more in line with the kind of thing Interpol or The Strokes were spitting out two decades ago…This all adds up to a pretty exciting band that you want to know more about. - FADER A mechanistic rocker with a contagious lockstep rhythm, some glammy throwback rock ‘n’ roll energy, and a hell of a hook - STEREOGUM The punk album I'm looking forward to the most for the rest of this year. - THE NEEDLE DROP |

San Francisco punks Spiritual Cramp have their long-awaited self-titled debut LP on the way, and today they’ve dropped the next song from it. “Herberts On Holiday” is a touching ode to Michael Bingham’s wife, who saved the vocalist from following a different path. He notes: “I don’t really like the idea of trying to sell the fact that I had a rough experience growing up to a musical audience for credibility but this song is probably the closest I’ll ever get to talking about what life was like. It wasn’t good. I feel really lucky to have met Barb. It’s hard to quickly summarize in a clip the impact she has had on my life but I can say with all honesty everything I have in my life today is because of her. To this day I am constantly making mistakes and oftentimes not living up to my fullest potential. But through the 18 years of knowing her, she’s never rubbed my face in it. All she’s ever done is cheer me on - even if I don’t feel like I deserve it. She always told me she wanted me to write her a song. I always tried but it always came out as some sarcastic thing because I have a hard time being open. I use humor to mask the way that I really feel. When I wrote this song I was on a plane home from our tour with V**gra Boys - I was crying uncontrollably and I knew while I was writing it that it wasn’t guarded. Hope you enjoy.” The song arrives with a homemade video featuring the two on a weekend away. Watch HERE Out November 3rd via Blue Gramp Music Spiritual Cramp was produced by Michael Bingham and Michael Fenton of the band and includes additional production from Carlos de la Garza (Paramore, M83, The Linda Linda's, Cherry Glazerr, etc.), who also mixed the album. The band brings fast downstrokes and upstrokes with hip-hop production and reggae inspirations to a Taking Heads meets Big Audio Dynamite meets Clash-styled punk, finding a balance between Molotov protest songs and genuine personal struggle. Both are a product of Bingham and Fenton coming up in San Francisco's Bay Area. Praised for being a band in their own lane, their well-documented live shows and a handful of EPs have garnered the band a consistent buzz and support from the likes of Iggy Pop, V**gra Boys, Turnstile, Gel, Deavheaven, Turnover, Militarie Gun and many more.. The self-titled debut is available for pre-order HERE and includes several exclusive vinyl variants. |
