Composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and bandleader Emma-Jean Thackray will mark the anniversary of her hugely successful debut album Yellow with the release of Yellow (Deluxe). It features two completely new tracks The Rings Of Saturn and Road Trip To Saturn as well as electrifying live versions of Yellow (at EartH), Our People and Sun (at the Church Studios); a delicate instrumental version of Say Something; and groove-inducing remixes of Venus, Golden Green and Sun. This follows the release of Yellower Vol.2 earlier this month, an explosive combination of dance remixes, including the most recent CID RIM remix.

Thackray on the release: “During the past year of touring I’ve written new arrangements, the music has evolved, and it almost feels like a new record in some ways. These new live versions living together with the remixes is cos I always wanna grow; I’m never satisfied, and never still. Always moving.”

Yellow was first released in 2021 to mass critical acclaim and chart success, it debuted at #1 on Jazz & Blues Chart, remaining at the top for 6 weeks and charted Top 75 on the Official Album Charts. Thackray was named the winner of UK Jazz Act of the Year (Jazz FM Awards), nominated for Best Jazz Act at the MOBO Awards and Gilles Peterson crowned ‘Yellow’ his 6 Music Album of The Year. She has recently been nominated for an AIM Independent Music Award for 'Best Independent Album.' Thackray’s side project, Talking Therapy Ensemble also released an EP earlier this year, hailed as a disorientingly cathartic combination of free-jazz madness and groove.

In the past year, Thackray has established herself as one of the key figureheads within the burgeoning UK jazz scene. She has embarked on a slew of incredible live performances, including at Glastonbury Festival (West Holts Stage), a sold out UK headline tour, live performances at BBC 6 Music Festival and the Royal Albert Hall supporting Bonobo, as well as a performance with Squid at Somerset House as part of their Summer Series. She will also perform a one-off jazz rave at the much-acclaimed EFG London Jazz Festival in November, and is on the lineup for End of the Road Festival.
