Later this month, Yumi Nu will be releasing her debut EP Hajime. The title of the EP means “Beginning” in Japanese, and that this is for the rising musician. Even though she has been around the world of music her entire life, this is the start of a fresh era for Yumi Nu where she feels like her artistry has finally synchronized with her personal growth and self-identity. Since childhood, Yumi has been inspired by her entertainment driven family and started singing lessons at age 12 and writing songs by age 15. After a couple years as a pop artist on Dim Mak records, she took a brief hiatus from the music industry to refine her craft. This led to her return to releasing music in 2022 with a set of new music and a new creative direction that pulls from alt-R&B and indie influences.
