A Certain Ratio today share
LoneLady’s Chop & Drop mix of
“Bouncy Bouncy,” one of the standout tracks from their forthcoming collection of entirely new remixes and reworkings of tracks from across their recent catalogue.
Referring to the band as a
“fundamental part of Manchester’s DNA,” LoneLady, aka Julie Campbell, explains that for the remix she created “
a series of variations on pretty much one section, alternating between building up and dropping out, keeping it choppy and playful. I love the title so I used the ‘bounce/bouncy’ vocals a lot, as well as playing around with a bit of down-pitching, a sprinkling of additional strings and hats, and re-working some of the cool Parliament-y synth basslines. I generally had fun doing a lot of chopping and re-building to create a playful 12’’ remix feel and I hope I’ve done the original justice!” Listen to the track
here.
A Certain Ratio have, over the course of the past few years, marked a dynamic new phase in their career with an incredible run of releases and touring.
LOCO REMEZCLADA, the new remix album, is out
November 5 on digital platforms and
November 12 on double clear vinyl, triple sparkle vinyl, and CD. It sees remixes and reworkings from 2020’s acclaimed
ACR LOCO album alongside “Down and Dirty” (featuring Denise Johnson, taken from
EPA which was released earlier this year).

MORE ABOUT LOCO REMEZCLADALOCO REMEZCLADA features a diverse range of artists, each bringing their own take on the band’s material. The list of remixers – which includes
Dan Carey,
The Orielles,
LoneLady,
Sink Ya Teeth,
The Lounge Society,
Lou Hayter,
Skream,
Colleen Cosmo Murphy and many more – were all chosen by the band who explain,
“We took time to consider who we’d like to have involved, who we admired, who we love hanging out with, who we couldn’t wait to hear what they came up with.” The producer, songwriter, mixer and founder of Speedy Wunderground,
Dan Carey, opens
LOCO REMEZCLADA with the
"Down & Dirty (Mr Dan Remix)" while
The Orielles take on
"Yo Yo Gi," by
“stripping back the original layers to give more spotlight to the field recordings…[they] convert the track’s funk to something approaching footwork and 2 step garage with ambient passages” (PopMatters). Elsewhere on the album,
Maps remixes “Get A Grip,”
Sink Ya Teeth (who collaborated with ACR on the last studio album) take on “What’s Wrong,” and
Lou Hayter mixes “Friends Around Us.” See the full tracklisting below.
The band recently launched a video for the Dan Carey remix of “Down & Dirty.” Using the track’s message
“It’s time to work it out, we can work it out”, the video looks at our polarized world and the myriad problems our society faces right now. ACR explain,
“It's time to reprogram. Learn to trust, love, support, and listen to the people around us. We want to live in a world where empathy triumphs over hate and fear. We are passionate about equality for all, and so was Our Denise.” Watch the video

After an emotional performance celebrating the life and work of Denise Johnson and a series of festival dates throughout the summer, the band embark on a headline tour across the UK and France throughout November. ACR will be joined on stage by Manchester singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Ellen Beth Abdi. In true ACR style, they have invited an artist they admire into the fold to augment and bring an extra dimension to their live performance. ACR explain,
“In Ellen we recognized a fellow artist, someone creating inspiring and original music, and were made up when she agreed to join us - first in the studio and now on the stage.” Ellen Beth Abdi goes on to say,
“I love listening (and dancing) to ACR’s records so to be performing with them live is an amazing feeling. Denise was a friend as well as a massive inspiration and support to me.” LOCO REMEZCLADA Tracklisting1. Down & Dirty (Mr Dan Remix)
