SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE has released an epic, four-part video that features the work of three different directors for their newest single “I SUCK THE DEVIL’S COCK” off their forthcoming LP and Saddle Creek debut ENTERTAINMENT, DEATH. The six-minute + song is a labyrinth of different sounds and influence through the incredible lens of the Philadelphia shape-shifters where everything is upside down and inside out taking the listener through different planes of reality. Budding from the concept of creating a workout video in hell the band enlisted directors Ada Babar, Documavision, and Powered by Wind to do just that. On the video, the band notes “it’s our take on “a day in the life.” A man, overworked and undervalued discovers a portal to another time and place where he hears a familiar song on the radio. In the context of the record, this track specifically encapsulates the dread of required performance, ultimately leading to a freeing death.”
The newly modified 3-piece (founding members Zack Schwartz and Rivka Ravede are now joined by new member Corey Wichlin), an adjustment that better suits the new record's musical stylings, engaged in an entirely different writing process than their past records. Where their breakout Hypnic Jerks was recorded in a week, ENTERTAINMENT, DEATH was planned and plotted over the period of 4 months; a dangerous amount of time for a band whose attention to detail is exceptional, allowing for their most focused and exploratory work to date. ENTERTAINMENT, DEATH is also the first to be entirely self-recorded and produced by the band giving a wider periphery and deeper scope into their intricate pop genius, a view unlike any SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE record that has come before.
