"Armed with a genre - shifting, kaleidoscopic sound, and delivering a stage show that is truly unlike any other, Haiku Hands have spent the last few years turning nonbelievers into dedicated fans at every turn." - ROLLING STONE

"These songs are filled with spirited vocal chants and rousing percussive synths, with a bold pitch - shifted vocal surfacing every now and again — they’re perfect for the club or a bustling street corner. Utilizing both absurd humor and a genuine embrace of fearless independence, it’s the perfect pump-up LP. " - PASTE MAGAZINE

Today, the Australian dance-pop group Haiku Hands share a live performance video for their track “Super Villain,” taken from their self-titled debut album released last September via Spinning Top Records and Mad Decent. Produced by Machinedrum, "Super Villain" is an epic air punching, fist pumping banger that embodies rage, power and determination. “The track is one of the most freeing songs to perform live, we feel powerful and connected when we play it live and tap into the wildest parts of ourselves,” says Haiku Hands of the track.

The riotous visual accompaniment for "Super Villain" rigorously captures Haiku Hands’ merciless and high energy dance floor grooves. “The video was captured at a hometown warehouse party we organised independently. It was a huge feat achieved with the help of our favourite Marrickville party people and friends who arrived armed with lights, PA’s, esky’s and big energy,” they say of the video. “The footage was shot and edited by our friend Lowanna who made the live video for our very first headline show. It’s the perfect picture of the community we love and thrive in.”

Rebellious, experimental and wildly unconventional, Haiku Hands was primarily recorded in Melbourne with Joel Ma (Joelistics) and features emblematic collaborations with SOFI TUKKER, Mad Zach, Machine Drum, Mirac, Elgusto of Hermitude and Lewis CancutFeaturing lead singles Not About You,” “Manbitch”, “Onset,” and Fashion Model Art (feat. SOFI TUKKER) the 12-track LP probes themes including technology, relationships, the absurd and social commentary. “The record explores an attitude of empowerment, humour and positivity whilst also delving into darker themes and expressions. We aimed to be original in our creative choices, we were influenced by multiple genres and artists but were aiming to create something that sounded new and different,” muses Haiku Hands of the album.
