Houston born Mexican-American bilingual singer-songwriter Alaina Castillo just released her newest single “indica” from her forthcoming debut LP out this year. The sultry pop song celebrates weed culture alluding to feeling a special kind of intoxicating love. Indica strains often refer to a relaxed and therapeutic state of mind and this song puts a creative spin on it.
"’indica’ is about escaping into an alternate reality. i want it to be a reset button that puts you in a different universe once you've listened to it,” says Alaina.
The fast rising pop star will make her award show debut at the 2021 Latin American Music Awards and was recently named Billboard’s Latin Artist to Watch. Telemundo announced today the star-studded lineup for the sixth edition of the Latin American Music Awards (Latin AMAs) 2021. The lineup is comprised of a mix of internationally acclaimed stars and an exceptional group of young artists including Anitta, Ozuna, Maluma, Nicky Jam, Juanes, Manuel Turizo, Myke Towers, Camilo, Ricky Martin, Wisin, Yandel, Ziggy Marley, Natanael Cano, and Alaina Castillo, to name a few. Telemundo will roll out the red carpet and welcome these artists who will come together to perform LIVE on Thursday, April 15 starting at 7pm/6c at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.
Alaina premiered “indica” for Grammy.com’s Press Play series and participated in MTV’s Instagram Live Jam Sessions to commemorate this release. Earlier this month, she participated in a Breakdown segment on Rolling Stone’s Twitch livestream and sang for UCLA’s Mattel Children’s Hospital in partnership with She is the Music. The official “indica” music video arrives on March 31st.
