Today, Birdy reveals her new EP ‘Piano Sketches’ via Atlantic Records (listen here). Featuring recently released tracks “If This Is it Now,” “Island Lights” and “Open Your Heart,” the EP showcases the maturity, honesty, and clarity of Birdy’s beautiful vocals. Lyrically, the EP is undoubtedly Birdy’s most heartfelt yet, featuring her stunningly poetic perspective on growing up, moving on from love lost and learning to find independence - paired with Birdy’s own hand drawn and painted artwork.
Alongside today’s release, Birdy also debuted a new official performance video of the final track to be revealed off the EP – “Just Like A River Does” – watch HERE.
Written and produced independently during her time away from the spotlight, ‘Piano Sketches’ offers fans a 4-track reintroduction to Birdy’s incredible talent and artistic growth since 2016’s critically acclaimed album ‘Beautiful Lies’. Now aged 24, the multi-platinum, internationally acclaimed, Brit and Grammy nominated artist also recently announced her highly anticipated new album for 2021; details will be announced in due course.
Birdy says “I’ve been away for a while so I wanted to put something out before the album for the fans who’ve been patiently waiting for new music. As well as writing I’ve always loved drawing and painting, the EP is called ‘Piano Sketches’ because the songs are recorded as raw acoustic performances and I made little pieces of art to go alongside each one. The stories are about heartbreak, being far from home and moving on.”
In addition to ‘Piano Sketches,’ Birdy will proudly present a livestream performance on Tuesday, November 10th - an intimate performance via a private YouTube Premiere of four tracks filmed at her home. The setlist will include special first performances of EP tracks, plus two tracks most requested by fans on socials.
