HAAi today shares a video for
“Bon Viveur,” a track taken from her new EP,
Put Your Head Above The Parakeets, out now on Mute. Watch
here.
The new video, directed by
Sensory Works uses elements of HAAi’s (aka Teneil Throssell) recently launched
Instagram filter. She explains, “
I worked with Sensory Works on the video for ‘Bon Viveur’ after being a fan of their previous work. We agreed that it should be nostalgic yet modern and vibrant, whilst remaining slightly tongue in cheek. I also wanted to incorporate some videos I had been sent from the Instagram filter we created, so people at home felt a part of the process.” The new EP is split into two distinct parts: Side A – written in response to the collective lockdown – features “
Head Above The Parakeets,” which Mary Anne Hobbs premiered on
BBC Radio 6 Music, and
“Rotating in Unison,” which was released with HAAi’s own
video and acts as a reminder for her “
to try and remember beauty and calm in a time of uncertainty and unrest, even for just a few minutes.” Side B is reminiscent of times spent immersed in a dancefloor and is comprised of the thrum of
“Bon Viveur” and the pounding
“Bass is the Place.” Stream and purchase

The EP follows HAAi’s debut for Mute, the
Systems Up, Windows Down EP, described by The Observer as
“a bolshy collection of vibrant face-melters” in their
