In an interesting example of art imitating life imitating art we now bring you “The Foot Sign Song.” Taken from an in-the-works theatrical adaptation of noted author Jonathan Lethem’s (Motherless Brooklyn, Fortress Of Solitude) ‘90s zeitgeist-y indie band novel “You Don’t Love Me Yet”, The Foot Sign Song is an ode to that Silver Lake landmark affectionately known to most residents as an omen of a good/bad ahead day ahead. With lyrics by Jonathan Lethem and songwriter Walter Salas-Humara (The Silos) and adapted here by Shaun Fleming, the man behind indie rock artist Diane Coffee and himself a veteran of theatre, film and the World of Disney. With the actual Foot Sign currently in storage purgatory and with the “Save the Foot Sign” folks attempting to rally support for landmark status (or at least to put the damned thing back up), Diane Coffee’s 90’s infused take brings effervescent life to the song.
