"['Territory' is] a muscular, hard-driving track that builds to a bright, yearning chorus." - Rolling Stone

"['Santa Fe'] feels like a trip to the beach...It's short, sweet, and full of moments." - Noisey

"['Amerika' is] a big, bold song, revolving like a slow-motion tornado around huge guitars, a booming rhythm and singer Paul Murphy's plangent vocals that take on a chant-like quality on the chorus." -The Wall Street Journal
Wintersleep has premiered their energetic song "Territory" today via Rolling Stone featuring Rush frontman Geddy Lee on the bass. PRESS HERE to listen!

"We were having a lot of trouble with the bass line we had for this song. It was cool but the song didn't feel as lively as it should in the end. Someone was like, "what would Geddy Lee do?" jokingly, and Tony was like- "oh, the best bass player in the world? He'd make it incredible. Why don't we just ask him?" So we did!" said Paul Murphy. "Geddy's part was perfect because it had this great groove and locked into to the vocal melody in the song from time to time, bringing more weight the melody in important spots. It added a certain playful dimension to the equation because it's so dynamic."

"Wintersleep contacted me a while ago and asked me to play bass on this track, I had a listen and loved the song and the vibe of the band," said Geddy Lee. "I had a blast laying down a bunch of takes and am happy to support a fellow Canadian band"

The track is from their highly-anticipated album The Great Detachment (their first in four years!), which will be released on March 4, 2016 via Dine Alone Records. Beginning Friday, February 19, the song will be available as an instant grat on the album, along with anthemic lead single "Amerika," and the visceral, propulsive track "Santa Fe."

Two years in the making, The Great Detachment marks a return to the organic approach of the band's earlier works that simultaneously sees them reaching new pinnacles of songwriting and production. The 11-song collection was recorded at Halifax's Sonic Temple (the birthplace of Welcome To The Night Sky and its preceding 2003 self-titled and 2005 untitled efforts) with producer Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai). The collection delivers a welcome dose of the atmospheric, entrancing alt-rock for which the band has become known, with beautifully orchestrated arrangements anchored by haunting, almost hypnotic melodies.

Wintersleep will celebrate the release of the album with a Canadian tour throughout March, as well as a stop in Austin, TX for SXSW. See full routing below, and PRESS HERE for purchasing information.
