Today, Waxahatchee shared “Under a Rock” from Ivy Tripp on NPR Music’s All Songs Considered podcast. Tune in and listen to the song that Bob proclaims will "rock your world!"
Pre-order Ivy Tripp now at iTunes or on CD and LP in the Merge store and receive a sticker and an autographed poster, while supplies last.
“Under a Rock” is a quicker guitar-driven song that lays the foundation for the rest of the album, which as a whole resonates with strong, self-aware lyrics, energetic ballads, and powerfully hushed moments of solitude. Crutchfield’s voice is certainly the guiding force behind Ivy Tripp—gripping you tightly and then softly releasing you into the wilds of emotion.
As far as her goals with the album, Crutchfield says, “I heard someone say that you have to be the change you want to see. I just want to be the kind of musician I want to see in the world. I want to present myself in a way that reflects that.”
Waxahatchee have extended their tour to include SXSW in March and the Pitchfork Music Festival in July. The full band will include Katie Crutchfield (guitar, vocals), Keith Spencer (guitar), Katherine Simonetti (bass), Ashley Arnwine (drums), and Allison Crutchfield (guitar, keys and backup vocals).
