Agnes Obel Expands North American Tour

AGNES OBEL ADDS MORE DATES
TO NORTH AMERICAN FALL TREK
"Agnes Obel's atmospheric chamber pop held an audience spellbound..." Seattle Times
LOS ANGELES, CA - Monday, June 9, 2014 - Currently on her biggest European tour to date, the intriguing and captivating Danish singer/songwriter/pianist AGNES OBEL has expanded the itinerary for her North American Fall tour, now including dates in Canada.  For these concerts, Obel has chosen to play intimate settings, accompanied only by a cellist and a violinist.  The confirmed itinerary is below; tickets for these just-announced dates go on sale this Thursday, June 12; log onto http://www.agnesobel.com for all details.

These dates are part of Obel's 2014 global tour and are in support of her 2013 album Aventine (Play It Again Sam/[PIAS] America) that was a Top 10 album throughout Europe and reached #28 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.  "I recorded everything quite closely, miking everything closely in a small room, with voices here, the piano here - everything is so close to you.  So it's sparse, but by varying the dynamic range of the songs, I could create almost soundscapes," said Obel.

Obel's 2010 debut album Philharmonics spent seven weeks at number one in her homeland, has sold well over a half-million copies across Europe, and earned her comparisons to Joni Mitchell, Carole King and French composer Erik Satie. Both Philharmomics and Aventine have received widespread critical acclaim**, she won five, major-category awards at the 2011 Danish Music Awards, France's prominent music magazine Les Inrocks put her on the cover of its 'Review of 2013' issue, and she recently appeared on the UK's prestigious "Later...with Jools Holland" television program.
