Plus - Sasquatch July 4th Weekend;
‘Close To the Glass’ Available in North America Feb. 25th Via Sub Pop

We are thrilled to announce that The Notwist have scheduled a North American headlining tour in support of Close To The Glass, their forthcoming album. The trek begins June 9th in New York, NY at Webster Hall and currently ends on July 4th weekend at Sasquatch Music Festival. The bands previously announced European tour schedule begins February 24th in Wiesbaden, DE at Schlachthof, with a series of tour dates that currently end July 19th in Gräfenhainichen, DE at the Melt! Festival. Please find a full list of tour dates below.

We’d also like to share the official video for “Kong,” the lead single from Close To The Glass, an animated visual directed by Yu Sato and featuring illustrations from Tim Divall. The video for “Kong” is based on a true story that involved Marcus Acher and his family being trapped in their home during an Ammer River flood in Weilheim, Germany.  During the experience, the young Acher resorted to fantasy, secretly hoping a superhero would save his family as the waters rose around them (see PitchforkNews Story February 12th).

The Notwist’s Close To The Glass will be available February 25th on CD/ LP / DL via Sub Pop.

The album will also be available in the following territories: in Japan from Afterhours on February 12th; in Australia via Spunk on February 21st; and in Europe via City Slang on February 24th. Close To The Glass features “Kong” and the title track, along with highlights  “Run Run Run,” and “Casino.”

Fans who pre-order Close To The Glass via iTunes will receive the album’s title track and “Kong” immediately. Both singles can be purchased individually as well. People who pre-order Close To The Glass on LP at subpop.com will receive the limited “Loser Edition” of the album on colored vinyl, as well as a set of small, limited-edition art prints (while supplies last). Additionally, there are two brand new The Notwist t-shirts, that will be available as a premium bundle with CD or LP purchases.

What People Are Saying About The Notwist:
“Propulsive, driving...a surprisingly sparkling uptempo cut” [“Kong”] - Pitchfork
“A very pretty, very hooky piece of Krautrock tunecraft, shot through with a deep sense of longing.” [“Kong”]  - Stereogum
“Here, they've abandoned any evidence of their glitchy history, mostly eschewing electronics in favour of warm, organic instrumentation like acoustic guitars and real-life drums. With a gentle melody and frontman Markus Acher's inimitable vocals, however, it's still the Notwist we know and love.” [Kong”] -Exclaim
“Judging by "Close to the Glass," the lead single off the band's new album, they have toughened up their sound considerably since 2008's The Devil, You + Me, diving into the rubbery abstraction that's afforded by modular synthesis and adopting the percussive, post-rave sensibilities of Mouse on Mars and Simian Mobile Disco.” [50 Albums You Gotta Hear in 2014] - SPIN
