FEBRUARY 5, 2026 – Bedelia have debuted their first single “Tightrope.” The Valley-bred band is a new project formed by drum and bass player Miles Morris (from Rolling Stone-lauded LA indie rock outfit Bad Suns), Fleshwater vocalist Marisa Shirar (whose “towering melodies” have been praised by Stereogum), and guitarist Dakota Floeter (Ethel Cain). The track arrives alongside a dreamy official video directed by Isaac Westberg and Jack Duffy (Turnstile, Mannequin Pussy, Fiddlehead), which is streaming now.

With Marisa Shirar’s ethereal vocals floating above a 90s alternative-inspired soundscape, “Tightrope” is an immediate introduction to the band’s glistening sonic world—musing on how our past experiences in love can affect our present relationships as it builds into a reflective, powerful chorus (when everything is fine / I have to go and change my mind).
Morris shared, “Lyrically this song is about reflecting on your own shortcomings within a relationship. It’s about not choosing love. When we’re young and our main example of love is inextricably linked to pain, it can result in us subconsciously (or consciously) sabotaging our adult relationships. Sometimes the fear is not that it won’t work out, but that somehow it will.”
He continued, “I love the choice we made to withhold chorus lyrics until the last round. Marisa referenced Garbage’s ‘When I Grow Up’ and we thought that was such a cool way to build excitement as the song progressed. This was the first song we wrote and recorded, as well as the first time we worked with Dakota for this project. I was blown away by how dialed in his tone was and how much his parts elevated the song.”
About Bedelia:
In 2025, Bad Suns drummer Miles Morris found himself in a period of transition, writing music with no clear home. Inspired, he turned to his childhood friend Marisa Shirar, and Bedelia quickly took shape, becoming a creative vessel for the change and grief the pair were each navigating in their own lives. With Dakota Floeter’s dreamy guitar tones, Bedelia arrives sounding familiar and new all at once.
Stay tuned for more from Bedelia soon.
