Brooklyn rock band Local Weatherman are excited to share their new EP, Right One, available everywhere now via emerging tape label, Karol Records. Right One channels restless introspection into sharp, melodic songs that balance raw urgency with moments of tenderness. Across the EP, the Brooklyn four-piece lean into driving hooks and frayed edges, crafting songs that feel immediate while quietly wrestling with uncertainty and growth. Five tracks capture a band refining its voice without sanding down its emotional bite.
“The EP is about stitching things back together when they start to come undone, bandleader Fritz Ortman explains. “When I sat down to figure out a title, I wanted to name it after 'Right One' because it felt like it fit the whole release thematically. I feel like every song is about trying to work out some problems so that you can finally be the Right One for the people who love you most.”

In December, “Weighing” arrived, showcasing the band at their most urgent and emotionally raw; lyrics like “weighing down on me / The fantasy” shine over distorted guitars. Local Weatherman announced the incoming record with “Thread,” which follows a search for identity through unraveling threads of anxiety, ample riffage, and heavy hooks. The Ugly Hug praised the single, saying, “Crammed with punchy riffs and metaphors of disastrous failed sewing attempts, ‘Thread’ is a full throttle track slated to stick with much longer than three minutes and twenty-three seconds.” Last year, the band returned with “The Hole,” which chronicles the fall into a pit of hopelessness and the descent into a directionless time of life, but sounds as anthemic and upbeat as ever, with frenetic drums and turbulent riffs.

Local Weatherman shared their eponymous debut album in 2023, which features fan favorite tracks “Bad” and Guns.” Extremely catchy, emo-tinged songs emerged from the record, cementing the band as a local favorite in Brooklyn’s ever-evolving rock scene and DIY scenes across the East Coast.
The Brooklyn band has played shows with genre contemporaries like Starcleaner Reunion, Bedridden, Sun Organ, Emperor X, Truth Club, and Petite League, cutting their teeth in the East Coast DIY scene. This weekend, they’ll celebrate the EP release with shows in Montreal, QC, Burlington, VT, and New York, NY. Tonight, they headline New York’s Night Club 101 with support from Retail Drugs and K. Porcelain. Follow @localweatherman for more updates and see below for upcoming shows.
