C.Y.M., the duo comprised of Chris Baio and Michael Greene, have joined forces with NME “Breakout” artist Abby Sage, a collaboration documented on the three-song EP My Whole World, to be released on February 4th. The EP was written by Baio, Greene and Sage, with vocals by Sage and production by C.Y.M..
The first taste of the ethereal dream pop of the forthcoming EP—think Cocteau Twins through the lens of C.Y.M—is title track “My Whole World,” available now across all digital platforms here: http://lnk.to/MWWsingle
Baio was first introduced to Sage in late 2022 by his management who sent him her EP The Florist. Baio replied, “I really, really love this,” and that he was “blown away by her talent, extremely cool voice, strong lyrical perspective and well-defined visual identity… everything I love about an artist.”
Baio and Sage immediately hit it off, personally and creatively. Within just two days they had the beginnings of “My Whole World” and “Switching Hands” which were then given the Greene Midas-touch treatment. Baio and Sage were thrilled and those became the first two songs to be included on the EP. The third of three songs to make the EP started as a C.Y.M. instrumental, heavily influenced by The Cure’s landmark Disintegration. Baio and Greene shared it with Sage who “did her thing” (writing the lyrics and singing) and that track became the gorgeous, “The Wire.”
“Working with these two gifted artists is everything I hope for in a collaborative relationship. May I be so lucky to work with them again. In the meantime, I hope you love our three-song EP as much as I do.” -Baio
To celebrate the release of My Whole World, C.Y.M. will play two exclusive live shows in Paris and London, at the Pop Up Du Label and Moth Club, respectively. The performances will feature Baio and Greene joined by Robby Sinclair (who plays drums on the studio version of “The Wire”) and special guest appearances including the newly confirmed Abby Sage herself.
Those dates are:
February 9 — Paris, FR — Pop Up Du Label
February 10 — London, UK — Moth Club
