Friday, June 27 - Today, your new indie rock obsession Pleasure Pill, released their highly-anticipated debut studio album Hang A Star – showcasing baggy Britpop swagger with indie rock grit via à La Carte Records. Listen to the new record and focus track “Favorite Color Gold” here and get hooked.

In celebration of the new record, Pleasure Pill is throwing an album release party at San Diego’s Whistle Stop Bar tonight at 9pm. The special show will feature sets by The Private Eye and Tom Henry, plus music by DJ Andrew Palko. Pleasure Pill, who are 3/5 Mexican-American and grew up in Chula Vista just 10 minutes from the Mexican border, will be donating all proceeds to Freedom for Immigrantsan immigrant-led, abolitionist organization committed to ending immigration incarceration.

Reinforcing their belief in the power of music, frontman Jonah Paz says, "We initially wanted to make our release show a benefit show because the neighborhood we’re playing in was recently raided, and we wanted to give the community an opportunity to gather. Aside from that, we hold a real responsibility with representing our people and showing everyone the power that music has to create real change."

Hang A Star opens with “Favorite Color Gold,” which features dynamic percussion and sharp songwriting. A subconscious response to the downer rock tunes of the last 20 years, it’s clear that Pleasure Pill has their eyes on the prize and wants their listeners to go for the gold alongside them. On the spellbinding song Don’t Fly Away,” however, the band gets moody and channels the spirit of adolescent wanderlust fueled by jangly guitar chords, entrancing melodies, and introspective lyrics.

Other standout songs that are destined to launch the San Diego band to the stars include the hypnotic anthem “My Way To You,” and the crisp, power-pop track “Line Up The Stars,” which is Pleasure Pill’s take on club meets rock’n’roll.
