(June 27, 2025) - Honduran experimental popstar Isabella Lovestory releases her sophomore album Vanity via Giant Music / Lovestory Inc. In a similarly romantic tone to its predecessor, “Amor Hardcore,” Vanity explores dualities - the horror of beauty, the luxury of trashiness and the infinite portal embedded in a handheld mirror. Speaking of the project, Isabella says, “Each song is a different side of me dealing with vanity itself, a haunted house of mirrors - where you can’t tell if the shine comes from diamonds or aluminum foil.”
With production assistance from frequent producers Chicken and Kamixlo, along with newcomer Mechatok and a guest appearance from Argentine rapper Taichu, Vanity is a chronology of the music touch points that are both dreamy and guttural. The melancholy of New Order is combined with the industrial rawness of Plan B - creating an unapologetic and fragile sense of debauchery and a sharp eye on the contemporary idea of beauty’s inevitable decay.
Vanity finds Isabella breaking free as a multidisciplinary creative, bringing her fantastical, garish vision of beauty to life from her unique perspective. Beyond the engrossing visuals she’s established this world with, the album seamlessly flits through sounds like the radio dial she grew up soundtracking her childhood in Honduras and Montreal, switching from crunk and reggaeton to synthwave and Y2K pop.
Earlier this month, Isabella’s magnetic live performance elicited rabid reactions to her recent festival sets at Paris’ We Love Green and Barcelona’s Primavera Sound. Now, Isabella will celebrate the release of Vanity playing LadyLand Festival in Brooklyn at Under The K Bridge tomorrow night, joining a lineup that features FKA Twigs, Cardi B, Pablo Vittar, Eartheater, and more. Born in Honduras before moving to the US and then Canada at 17 years old, Lovestory has positioned herself as a trailblazing force paving her own way at the cross-section of pop and reggaeton, making her an icon in experimental music. In 2022, she made her mark with her debut Amor Hardcore, which Pitchfork characterized as “playful, maximalist, and flirtatious to the core.”
